`Baby carrier was decorated with a sunburst design with an allover
`stitching pattern in the background. By Nina Stuli.
`
`Baby Carrier
`
`Baby carriers are a tremendous aid to young parents who don’t in-
`tend to hibernate while the babies are small. They are helpful to the
`mother with another small child and almost indispensable for errands
`and shopping when the baby accompanies the parent. Many have plain
`panels which invite decorative additions. In the decorative design done
`on the carrier in the photograph, the background was filled with a filigree
`pattern of machine stitching. The drawings may give you other ideas.

`
`
`Another simple and very comfortable
`baby carrier is shown in these drawings.
`The baby's legs come through the open
`ends of the shoulder strap which also
`forms the sides of the bag. Be sure to use
`a good strong fabric-—-—sailcloth, light can-
`vas, or heavy denim—and double-stitch
`all seams.
`
`To make this two—piece carrier, cut a
`strip of strong fabric 15 inches by approxi-
`mately 54 inches (38 cm by 137 cm) long.
`Sew lengthwise,
`turn, and top-stitch so
`that the strip finishes at 7 inches by 54
`inches (18 cm by 137 cm). The length of
`the shoulder strap varies according to the height of the carrier, how high
`on the hip the baby is held, and whether the shoulder strap is crossed over
`the head to the opposite shoulder.
`Next cut a rectangle 24 inches by 7 inches (61 cm by 18 cm) for the

`Photo Album
`
`A photo album is definitely an essential item for parents or grand-
`parents, especially for a second or third child. It seems that endless quanti-
`ties of photos are always made of the first child. When the next ones arrive,
`there isn't a free hand to carry the camera! An album may serve as a gentle
`reminder to expose the film.
`This album, featuring a snapshot of the baby, is simply a fabric cover
