`
`REMARKS
`
`This Amendment and Response is considered fully responsive to the Office action mailed
`
`February 2, 2016. Prior to entry of this Amendment and Response, claims 1, 2 and 4-11 are
`
`pending in the present application and stand rejected. In this Amendmnet and Response, claims
`
`1, 2, 7 and 8 have been amended without prejudice or disclaimer. New claims 12-20 have been
`
`added. No new matter has been added. No claims have been canceled. Thus, after entry of this
`
`Amendment and Response, claims 1, 2 and 4-20 are pending. Reconsideration and
`
`reexamination are respectfully requested.
`
`Objection to the Specification
`
`The Office action objects to the specification as purportedly failing to describe Figures
`
`5A, 5B, 5C and 6A. Applicant respectfully traverses this objection for at least the following
`
`reasons.
`
`Applicant notes that Figure 5A is described in originally-filed paragraphs [0021] and
`
`[0054] of the specification (paragraphs [0023] and [0056] of the published application).
`
`Figure 5B is described in originally-filed paragraphs [0022] and [0055] of the specification
`
`(paragraphs [0024] and [0057] of the published application). Figure 5C is described in
`
`originally-filed paragraphs [0023] and [0055] of the specification (paragraphs [0025] and [0057]
`
`of the published application). Figure 6A is described in originally-filed paragraphs [0025] and
`
`[0057] of the specification (paragraphs [0027] and [0059] of the published application).
`
`Accordingly, Applicant respectfully requests that the Office reconsider and withdraw the
`
`objection to the specification.
`
`Objections to the Claims
`
`Claims 1, 2 and 7 were objected to based on purported inforrnalities. Claims 1, 2 and 7
`
`have been amended without prejudice or disclaimer and solely to expedite prosecution of the
`
`present application. Applicant respectfully requests that the objections to claims 1, 2 and 7 be
`
`reconsidered and withdrawn and that claims 1, 2 and 7 be allowed.

`
`Re'ections Under 35 U.S.C.
`
`102 a
`
`Claims 1, 2, 4, 6, 8-10 were rejected under 35 U.S.C. § 102(a)(2) as being anticipated by
`
`Purdy et al. (US Patent 8,323,060). Applicant respectfully traverses this rejection for at least the
`
`following reasons.
`
`Claim 1 recites, from which claims 2, 4, 6 and 8-10 depend, recites, inter alia, that, “the
`
`contacting portion is formed monolithicially with the at least one of the coupler, the post, or the
`
`body” and “the contacting portion at least partially encloses the biasing ring when the coaxial
`
`cable connector is assembled.”
`
`In contrast to claim 1, Purdy discloses a distinct continuity member (370) that is
`
`positioned between a post (40) and a body (50) of a connector. Although the Office argues that
`
`Fig. 13 of Purdy shows that the continuity member (370) is formed monolithically with at least
`
`one of the coupler, the post, or the body, Applicant respectfully disagrees. A portion of Fig. 13
`
`from Purdy is shown below:
`
`
`
`As can be clearly seen, the continuity member (370), including the “nut contact
`
`portion (374),” is a separate, distinct component and is not “formed monolithically” with at least
`
`one of the of the coupler, the post, or the body as recited in claim 1. The Office action appears to
`
`be confused that although the nut contacting portion (374) may be monolithic with the continuity
`
`member (370), neither of the nut contacting portion nor the continuity member (370) is formed
`
`monolithically with at least one of the coupler, the post, or the body as recited in claim 1.
`
`Further, although the continuity member (370) extends to the nut 30 in Purdy, the
`
`similarly fails to disclose, teach or suggest at least that the continuity member (370) at least
`
`partially encloses a biasing ring when the coaxial cable connector is assembled as recited in
`
`claim 1. Rather, Purdy includes an O—ring sealing member (80) that is disposed between the
`
`-7-
`
`

`
`Serial No. — l4/259,703
`Art Unit — 2833
`
`nut (30) and the connector body (50). The continuity member (370) of Purdy does not at least
`
`partially enclose the sealing member (80).
`
`Thus, Purdy fails to anticipate claims 1, 2, 4 and 6.
`
`Claim 8, from which claims 9 and 10 depend, recites, inter alia, “the contacting portion
`
`at least partially encloses the biasing ring when the coaxial cable connector is assembled.”
`
`As discussed above with respect to claim 1, Purdy fails to disclose, teach or suggest at
`
`least that “the contacting portion at least partially encloses the biasing ring when the coaxial
`
`cable connector is assembled.” Thus, Purdy similarly fails to anticipate claims 8-10.
`
`Accordingly, Applicant respectfully requests that the Office reconsider and withdraw the
`
`rejection of claims 1, 2, 4, 6 and 8-10 and allow claims 1, 2, 4, 6 and 8-10.
`
`Re'ections Under 35 U.S.C.
`
`103
`
`Claims 5, 7 and ll were rejected under 35 U.S.C. § 103 as being unpatentable over Purdy
`
`et al. (US Patent 8,383,060). Applicant respectfully traverses this rejection for at least the
`
`following reasons.
`
`Claims 5, 7 and ll depend from either claim 1 or claim 8 and are believed to be
`
`patentable over Purdy for at least the same reasons discussed above with respect to independent
`
`claims 1 and 8. Thus, claims 5, 7 and ll are not obvious over Purdy. Accordingly, Applicant
`
`respectfully requests that the Office reconsider and withdraw the rejection of claims 5, 7 and 11.
`
`New claims 12-20
`
`New claim 12, from which claims 13-20 depend, recites, inter alia, “a post comprising a
`
`monolithically formed contacting portion” and is thus also believed to be patentable over Purdy.
`
`CONCLUSION
`
`Applicants respectfully submit that the present application is in condition for allowance.
`
`The Examiner is encouraged to contact the undersigned to resolve efficiently any formal matters
`
`or to discuss any aspects of the application or of this response. Otherwise, early notification of
`
`allowable subject matter is respectfully solicited.
