`
`QUESTIONS:
`
`List contact person, phone, fax, e-mail, company name, address, city, state or
`province, zip/postal code, country.
`
`Abstract: Type a 150-word maximum product description. Be sure to include an
`electronic copy of this abstract on computer floppy, CD or Zip disk.
`
`At the end of the abstract, list the exact company name, city, state, country and
`phone number. If your product is selected for an award, the abstract and this
`contract information will be published in Resource magazine so that readers
`may contact your company for more information.
`
`Note that the first portion of the abstract may be used to prepare a script for
`the awards presentation at the ASAE Annual Meeting. The first sentence should
`be a concise description of the innovation. The second should cover the most
`unique feature of major benefit of the innovation.
`
`Please answer the following as completely and concisely as possible on
`a separate sheet(s) of paper.
`
`1. Product name?
`
`2. Date available for purchase? (It must be between January 1 and December
`31, 2003).
`
`(any part
`3. Which area of principal use is this product or system designed for:
`of the production processing, or marketing of an agricultural or biological
`product or for use in developing a biological organism.)
`Describe its operation:
`
`4. Does this product qualify as a component or as a machine or system? (You
`may enter either an entire machine or system, OR the most innovative com-
`ponent of it not both. Any attachment that is designed specifically for use with a
`machine and introduced with it is considered part of the basic
`machine system.)
`
`5. Is the product an application of new technology or a new, innovative
`application of existing technology? Explain why it is considered new technology
`or what makes the application of old technology innovative.

`
`6. Why is this product a worthwhile contribution to advancing engineering in
`agricultural, food and biological systems? Be as specific as possible. (Provide
`quantitative physical data or comparisons that prove the advantages of this new
`product over existing technology. Word like bigger, better, wider, faster or
`more productive are not sufficient. Lack of proper information will lower your
`score.)
`
`7. What special engineering techniques were used to develop this product, and
`how did they help?
`
`8. What markets or industries will benefit from this development and how will
`they benefit?
`
`9. How large are the total estimated markets the development will impact?
`(In dollars and/or units.)
`
`10. What is the retail price of the product or system?
`
`11. Has a patent been issued or applied for?
`
`12. Is the product trademarked or registered?
