`
`
`UNITED STATES INTERNATIONAL TRADE COMMISSION
`WASHINGTON, D.C.
`
`Before the Honorable Dee Lord
`Administrative Law Judge
`
`
`In the Matter of
`
`CERTAIN CARBON AND ALLOY
`STEEL PRODUCTS
`
`
`
`
`
`Investigation No. 337-TA-1002
`
`
`U. S. STEEL’S NOTICE OF WITHDRAWAL OF ITS MOTION FOR SANCTIONS
`AGAINST THE BAOSTEEL RESPONDENTS AND THE SHOUGANG RESPONDENTS
`(MOT. NO. 1002-087)
`
`
`Complainant United States Steel Corporation (“U. S. Steel”) respectfully withdraws its
`
`pending motion for sanctions against the Baosteel Respondents and the Shougang Respondents for
`
`violations of Order No. 61.
`
`
`
`On May 19, 2017, the ALJ ordered Respondents to produce “documents regarding: (i)
`
`exports of OCTG to the Philippines from 2010-2016; (ii) exports of corrosion-resistant steel to
`
`Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, and Vietnam for 2014-2016; and (iii) exports of cold-rolled steel
`
`to Hong Kong, Thailand, and Vietnam for 2014-2016.” Order No. 61 at 2. U. S. Steel read this
`
`Order to require Respondents to produce documents through the end of 2016. While reviewing
`
`the Respondents’ produced documents, U. S. Steel noticed that the productions of the Baosteel
`
`Respondents, the Masteel Respondents, the Shagang Respondents, and the Shougang Respondents
`
`were missing documents regarding exports from after March 31, 2016. U. S. Steel thus moved for
`
`sanctions against these Respondents as it became aware of, and confirmed, these discrepancies: a
`
`motion against Masteel and Shagang on July 13, 2017 (Mot. No. 1002-080), and one against
`
`Baosteel and Shougang on July 25, 2017 (Mot. No. 1002-087).
`
`1
`Investigation No. 337-TA-1002
`U. S. Steel’s Notice of Withdrawal of Its Motion for Sanctions Against the Baosteel Respondents and the Shougang
`Respondents for Violations of Order No. 61 (Mot. No. 1002-087)
`
`

`

`
`
`On August 4, 2017, the ALJ denied U. S. Steel’s motion against Masteel and Shagang. See
`
`
`
`Order No. 92. Because U. S. Steel’s motion for sanctions against Baosteel and Shougang was
`
`predominantly based on the same argument, U. S. Steel respectfully withdraws its pending motion
`
`against the Baosteel Respondents and the Shougang Respondents.
