Law360 Announces Intellectual Property MVPs for 2014

Docket Alarm would like to congratulate this year’s Law360 Intellectual Property MVPs. The 2014 class includes both veterans and up-and-comers, with almost all of the recipients having practices focused on patent litigation.

Daralyn Durie | Durie Tangri

Daralyn Durie is a San Francisco-based patent litigator, whose clients include some of the biggest names in tech: Google, Twitter, LinkedIn and Genentech. Recently, she has received several honors in addition to being a Law360 MVP— Chambers & Partners named her one of the top 25 patent litigators in California and American Lawyer named her one of the top 50 litigators under age 45 in the United States. She is also a founding partner of Durie Tangri.

William Gaede | McDermott Will & Emery

Also based in the Bay Area, William Gaede is a partner of McDermott Will & Emery. His IP practice is focused on the life sciences and medical device industries, and he was selected as a Law360 MVP for his representation of Ambry Genetics. Gaede has received many honors, including being named one of the top 25 biotech lawyers in California in 2011 by the Daily Journal.

Nicholas P. Groombridge | Paul Weiss

Patent litigator Nick Groombridge is a partner in Paul Weiss’s litigation department. He has successfully tried cases for corporate giant General Electric and GPS Pioneer Garmin. In 2014, Chambers USA ranked Groombridge as a Band 1 practitioner for Intellectual Property: Patent (NY). He is based in New York.

Rachel Krevans | Morrison & Foerster

California litigator Rachel Krevans has received many professional accolades— in 2014 she was inducted into the ChIPs Hall of Fame and was the Chambers USA Women in Law “Intellectual Property Lawyer of the Year” in 2013, just to name a few.  Having over 25 years of patent litigation experience, she serves as the chair of Morrison & Foerster’s IP Litigation Group.

William F. Lee | WilmerHale

Bill Lee is a distinguished IP litigator with more than 35 years of experience, and has tried over 100 patent cases. Jason R. Mudd | Erise IP

Kansas City IP litigator Jason Mudd’s experience includes a wide range of technologies, from computer networking to medical devices. Mudd represented Garmin in the first ever Inter Partes Review (IPR) before the relatively new Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB), obtaining a favorable result, with all claims being ruled invalid. He was named to the National Law Journal’s list of “2014 IP Trailblazers and Pioneers.”

Catherine Nyarady | Paul Weiss

Also a partner in Paul Weiss’s litigation department, Catherine Nyarady has represented clients in both patent and trademark matters. Recently, Nyarady’s successful representation of industry leader Edwards Lifesciences against Medtronic, Inc. resulted a 1 billion-dollar settlement. Nyarady’s other notable clients include Duracell, Gillette, and Estee Lauder. She is based in New York.

Joseph Re | Knobbe Martens

Patent litigator and appellate specialist Joseph Re is a partner at Knobbe Martens. Re has significant experience in high-stakes patent litigation, obtaining jury awards for his clients in that number in the hundreds of millions of dollars. The Daily Journal has named Re as one of the top “100 Leading Lawyers in California” every year since 2006.

Rudolph Telscher | Harness Dickey

Experienced IP litigator Rudy Telscher’s cases touch on almost every area of intellectual property: patents, trademarks, trade secrets, copyrights, rights of publicity, First Amendment issues and antitrust. Telscher’s track record is impressive— he has not lost a trial or arbitration in over 10 years. In 2013, he was named to the Best Lawyers in America list for Intellectual Property: Patents.
