`
`2004 NOV 30 - (NewsRx.com & NewsRx.net) -- Frost & Sullivan's recent research analysis, U.S. Remote
`Patient Monitoring Devices Markets, selected Health Hero Network, Inc., as the recipient of the 2004
`Product Innovation Excellence Award for developing the Health Buddy system.
`
`The Health Buddy system is an innovative and highly robust set of tools that allows communication
`between home-based patients with chronic illnesses and their care providers.
`
`Every year, Frost & Sullivan presents this award to the company that has demonstrated excellence in new
`products and technologies within its industry. The award recognizes innovation by the recipient company
`resulting in the launch of a broad line of emerging products and technologies.
`
`For care providers, the Health Buddy system facilitates timely intervention and delivers healthcare cost
`savings by reducing emergency patient visits to the hospitals.
`
`The Health Buddy system includes monitoring technologies, clinical information databases, Internet-
`enabled decision support tools, and state-of-the-art health management programs.
`
`One unique aspect of the Health Buddy system is the depth and breadth of the health management
`programs. Armed with dynamic branching logic, flexible question taxonomy, and the ability to collect
`variable patient responses, the health management programs are customizable to individual patient needs
`and conditions.
`
`The programs are individually designed to address the needs of patients with diabetes, congestive heart
`failure, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, depression, co-morbidities, and many more conditions.
`
`Each health management program is made up of interactive scripted content based on standard practice
`guidelines for major diseases, and delivered through the Health Buddy appliance.
`
`It serves to create awareness, educate patients about the symptoms and potential risk factors, enhance
`medication compliance, and improve patient behaviors.
`
`"With detailed sets of questions and answers encompassing all of the key aspects of care for each chosen
`condition, the Health Buddy system is by far the most comprehensive in its approach to managing various
`types of chronic diseases," noted Frost & Sullivan Research Analyst Seemeen Mirza.
`
`The use of Health Hero Network's Care Composer software allows clinicians to edit existing health
`management programs or create new ones that best address the needs of specific patient types. Through
`increased communication, behavior modification, and prevention, the Health Buddy system improves
`quality of care for patients with chronic diseases.
`
`Health Hero Network develops and markets the Health Buddy system for health improvement. The Health
`Buddy system serves as the interface between patients at home and care providers, facilitating patient
`education and monitoring of chronic conditions.
