`RESPONSE TO SUSPENSION INQUIRY

`This is in response to the suspension inquiry of April 22, 2003.
`
`Applicant, Total Energy Corp., has two other pending applications including the elements
`TOTAL ENERGY. Application 75/352844 is suspended. 78/185,049 has been opposed
`by Total S.A. Applicant and opposer have been in discussions regarding some type of
`settlement agreement. However, in the past several years Total S.A. has been in a series
`of corporate transactions, including mergers that changed its housemark to, at one point,
`TOTALELFFINA. These transactions have delayed settlement, however discussions
`continue. Such a settlement would certainly involve the disposition of this application.
`Applicant therefore respectfully requests that the Examining Attorney continues to
`suspend this application.
