Rule 4(b) of the Federal Rules of Appellate Procedure requires that a notice of appeal in a criminal case be filed in the district court within 14 days of the entry of the judgment or order appealed.
In this case the order granting, in part, defendant’s motion to reduce sentence was entered on March 16, 2020, and the order denying reconsideration was entered on March 25, 2020.
Accordingly, IT IS ORDERED that appellant, on or before May 18, 2022, file a brief memorandum stating why this appeal should not be dismissed because it is untimely.

Order Denying Motion for Leave to Appeal out of Time Brian Jones's motion for leave to appeal out of time, dkt. [894], is denied.
As previously explained, the appeal deadline may be extended only for a maximum of thirty days beyond the original fourteen-day deadline, Fed. R. App. P. 4(b)(1)(A); United States v. Malone, 762 F. App'x 335, 335 (7th Cir. 2019), and Mr. Jones's motion—filed on May 23, 2022—came more than two years after the latest possible extension.
His request is therefore too late.

Order Denying Motion to File Out-of-Time Notice Appeal and Motion for Leave to Proceed on Appeal In Forma Pauperis Brian Jones was convicted by a jury of conspiring to deal cocaine and sentence to life in prison.
On March 16, 2020, The court granted Mr. Jones's motion under the First Step Act and reduced his sentence to three- hundred months.
The Court ruled on his motion to reconsider on March, 25, 2020, so the time for appeal expired on April 8, 2020.
Mr. Jones's motion for leave to proceed in forma pauperis is likewise denied.
