2001 Exhibit: Ex 2001

Document IPR2024-00567, No. 2001 Exhibit - Ex 2001 (P.T.A.B. May. 28, 2024)
Much of my responsibility at CIMIT is to facilitate collaboration among scientists, engineers, clinicians, and entrepreneurs to speed the discovery, development, and implementation of medical innovations into practice.
By way of example of CIMIT’s work, it was recently responsible for the National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering (NIBIB) sponsored RADx Tech program.
By way of example, while at ADL, I worked with an operating unit within Philip Morris USA (“PM USA”) called Chrysalis Technologies, Inc. (“Chrysalis”) on an alternative smoking product that was battery-powered and puff- activated.
These projects built off of and utilized the prior capillary aerosol generator research and development at PM USA and Chrysalis (the results of which are reflected in patents such as U.S. Pat. No. 5,743,251 to Howell et al.; U.S. Pat. No. 6,501,052 to Cox et al.; and U.S. Pat. No. 6,491,233 to Nichols) and applied it to efforts to atomize very low flow rates of liquid fuel for efficient combustion.
Claims 43 and 44 require that the liquid reservoir is “defined by an interior of the cartridge housing and an exterior of the atomizing chamber.” In my opinion, Cho does not disclose this limitation.

The liquid tank 2 defines a smoke channel 106 in a middle portion thereof communicating with the inhalation hole 104.
When the cavity 112 is in a state of negative pressure, the actuating film 514 contacts to the perorated plate 516 and the switch is turned off.
When the cavity 112 is in a state of positive pressure, the actuating film 514 is pushed away from the perorated plate 561 by the airflow and the switch cannot be turned off.
Because the tobacco fla vored liquid used by the electronic cigarette 400 doesn't contain nicotin, a damage to the user's health can be avoided.
An electronic cigarette atomizer, comprising: a metal fiber element for conducting a tobacco flavored liquid.

Such MEMS based microheaters can emit heat by applying an electrical current to a resistor and can provide advantages such as low power input requirement and very short response time.
An exemplary mechanism that can provide Such puff-actuation capability includes a Model 163PC01D36 silicon sensor, manufactured by the MicroSwitch division of Honeywell, Inc., Freeport, Ill. Fur ther examples of demand-operated electrical switches that may be employed in a heating circuit according to the present invention are described in U.S. Pat. No. 4,735,217 to Gerth et al., which is incorporated herein by reference in its entirety.
Further description of current regulating circuits and other control components, including microcontrollers, that can be useful in the present smoking article are provided in U.S. Pat. Nos. 4,922,901, 4,947,874, and 4,947,875, all to Brooks et al., U.S. Pat. No. 5,372,148 to McCafferty et al., U.S. Pat. No. 6,040, 560 to Fleischhauer et al., and U.S. Pat. No. 7,040,314 to Nguyen et al., all of which are incorporated herein by refer ence in their entireties.
The heating member may be reactivated by the consumer initiat ing another puff on the article (or manually actuating the pushbutton, depending upon the specific Switch embodiment employed for activating the heater).
Still further, one or more control buttons 16 can be included to allow for manual actua tion by a consumer to elicit a variety of functions, such as powering the article 10 on and off, turning on the microheater 50 to generate a vapor or aerosol for inhalation, or the like.

In another aspect, by communicating through holes and channels provided and arranged in the electric heater and the liquid storage component, the atomized large drops can adhere to the liquid storage component under the pressure of airflow, such that the inhaled smoke is more similar to the feel a real cigarettes to more suitable meet the taste of smoker.
The liquid storage component can have an internal channel through which the atomized gas can flow, and the auxiliary air inlet, the sensor and the suction nozzle can form an airflow loop.
Because the contact area is larger, the permeation and conduction of cigarette liquid is more sufficient and rapid, and the atomized smoke efficiently generated.
The liquid storage component (3) internally has a channel (31) through which the atomized gas flows, and the auxiliary air inlet (4), the sensor (2) and the suction nozzle form an airflow loop.
In other aspects, the atomizing electronic cigarette is characterized in that the thickness of the liquid permeating component (6) ranks from 0.5 to 5mm, and the diameter of the through NJOY Exhibit 1007.012
