`
`103
`
`Claims 1—10 and 12 were rejected under 35 U.S.C. § 103 as unpatentable over various
`
`combinations of U.S. Pat. App. Pub. No. 2016/0231843 (“Kim” hereinafter), U.S. Pat. App. Pub.
`
`No. 2011/0007042 (“Miyaguchi” hereinafter), U.S. Pat. App. Pub. No. 2016/0239050
`
`(“Kim’050” hereinafter), U.S. Pat. App. Pub. No. 2006/0107566 (“Van Rens” hereinafter), U.S.
`
`Pat. App. Pub. No. 2016/0086563 (“Park” hereinafter), U.S. Pat. App. Pub. No. 2009/0295422
`
`(“Hamer” hereinafter), and U.S. Pat. App. Pub. No 2012/0008294 (“Minoo” hereinafter).
`
`Independent claim 1, as amended, recites the feature of “an auxiliary sheet attached to
`
`one end of the display panel.” According the paragraph 0095, the auxiliary sheet may mitigate
`
`mechanical stress at the edge of the display panel.
`
`None of the cited references disclose this feature. Kim relates to a rollable display device
`
`including a flexible display module. (See Kim, abstract.) Kim at best discloses that a rollable
`
`display panel DM with a display panel having support blocks SB attached to one side (See Kim,
`
`FIG. 1—4A.) However, Kim fails to disclose any specific circuit (e.g., an auxiliary sheet) being
`
`coupled to any end of the display panel. Therefore, Kim fails to disclose this feature.
`
`29275/43102EW/10784199J
`
`
`
`Miyaguchi relates to a flexible display device with a driver circuit provided at a bent
`
`portion of the flexible display device. (See Miyaguchi, paragraphs [0010]—[0012].) The display
`
`panel of Miyaguchi is not rolled onto a supporting portion 102. Therefore, Miyaguchi’s display
`
`panel does not have any end that is rolled first onto the supporting portion 102 and unrolled last
`
`from the supporting portion. Hence, Miyaguchi also fails to teach or suggest this feature.
`
`Kim ‘050 at best discloses a flexible display panel 130 that is rolled around a rolling
`
`member 111. (See Kim ‘050, paragraph [0038].) Kim ‘050 also discloses a circuit board 112 (or
`
`a connection part 112) in the rolling member 111 (See Kim ‘050, FIG. 2.) However, nowhere in
`
`Kim ‘050 does it teach or suggest providing an auxiliary sheet attached to one end of the display
`
`panel. Hence, Kim ‘050 also fails to teach or suggest this feature.
`
`The remaining cited references of Van Rens, Park, Hamer and Minoo related to specific
`
`features of dependent claims. None of these cited references disclose, teach or suggest anything
`
`about providing an auxiliary sheet attached to one end of the display panel.
`
`Hence, the combinations of cited references fails to disclose, teach or suggest the feature
`
`of “an auxiliary sheet attached to one end of the display panel.” recited in amended claim 1.
`
`Therefore, withdrawal of the rejection of amended claim 1 and its dependent claims is
`
`respectfully requested.
`
`Allowable Subject Matter
`
`Allowability of claims 11 and 13 is respectfully acknowledged.
