Docket No. 10031.004211
`
`REMARKS
`
`With the above amendments, claims 1-4, 7-12, 14, 21, and 22 remain in the
`
`application.
`
`Claim amendments have been made to expedite prosecution. Applicant expressly
`
`reserves the right to pursue the original version of an amended claim in a continuing
`
`application.
`
`Claim Amendments
`
`The applicant maintains the arguments presented in the Pre-Appeal Brief Request
`
`for Review submitted by the applicant on March 28, 2017.
`
`In the interest of compact prosecution, claim 1 has been amended to recite “a first
`
`doped region and a second doped region in the substrate on the front surface of the
`
`substrate, the first doped region having a sheet resistance that is higher than a sheet
`
`resistance of the second doped region.” Support for this feature of claim 1 may be found
`
`at least on FIG. 1 of the specification, showing an N—type doped region 105 and an N-
`
`type doped region 106 in the substrate 101 on the front surface of the substrate 101. As
`
`explained in the specification, the N—type doped region 105 may have a sheet resistance
`
`of 100 to 500 Q/sq, and the N-type doped region 106 may have a sheet resistance of 10 to
`
`50 Q/sq (specification, page 4, linesl 1-13).
`
`It is respectfully submitted that the above-noted feature of claim 1 are not taught
`
`, or suggested by the references of record. More particularly, Meier (US 6,262,359),
`
`Okayasu (JP07-106611), Borden (WO 2009/094578), Foglietti (US 2002/0142500), and
`
`Gan (Polysz'lz'con Emittersfor Silicon Concentrator Solar Cells) individually or in
`
`combination do not disclose a solar cell with the recited first and second doped regions
`
`on the front side of the substrate.
`
`Conclusion
`
`

`

`Docket No. 1003100421 1
`
`For at least the above reasons, it is believed that the pending claims are in
`
`condition for allowance. The Examiner is invited to telephone the undersigned for any
`
`questions and to resolve any remaining concerns regarding allowability of the present
`
`application.
