`
`I. DISCUSSION
`
`On July 21, 2017, the parties filed a Joint Motion to Terminatethis
`
`proceeding (Paper 16), a true copy ofthe parties’ settlement agreement (Ex.
`
`1030), and a request to treat the settlement agreement as business
`
`confidential information under 35 U.S.C. § 317(b) and 37 C.F.R. § 42.74(c)
`
`(Paper 17).
`
`Thetrial is still in its preliminary stages. On March 9, 2017, we
`
`entered a decision instituting an inter partes review ofclaims 1, 2, 4, 5, 17,
`
`20, 21, 24, and 25 of U.S. Patent No. 8,727,569 B2 (Ex. 1001, “the ’569
`
`patent”). Paper 11. Although we haveinstituted a trial, Patent Owner has
`
`not filed a responseto the Petition, nor has Petitioner filed a reply.
`
`In the Joint Motion to Terminate this proceeding, the parties indicate
`
`that they havesettled their dispute regarding the °569 patent. Paper16, 1.
`
`Accordingto the parties, terminating this proceeding at this early juncture
`
`would “preserve the Board’s resources and obviate the need for any more
`
`Board involvementin the present proceeding.” Jd. at3. We agree with the
`
`parties in this regard. Consequently, we determinethat it is appropriate to
`
`terminate the trial without rendering any further decisions. See 37 C.F.R.
`
`§ 42.72.
