`Melen does not teach at least "obtaining Internet Protocol (IP) addresses of the second
`
`devices, wherein obtaining the IP addresses comprises receiving shott message service (SMS)
`
`messages from the respective second devices" and "transmitting a location of the first device to
`
`tl1c IP addresses of the second devices," as recited it1 claim I. Melen describes "vehicle
`
`navigation systems that are capable of communicating with one another" and "displaying the
`
`location of other vehicle navigation systems in the group" (Abstract). Melen does not describe
`
`any technique whereby any device obtains the IP addresses of any other device. Furtl1ermore,
`
`Melen expressly states that the "OPS information" of the vehicle navigation systems is
`
`"transmitted and received using text messaging (short messaging service)" ([0029); see also
`
`[0045], [0053], and [0060]). Thus, Melen cannot (and does not) teach "obtaining Internet
`
`Protocol (IP) addresses of the second devices, wherein obtaining the IP addresses comprises
`
`receiving short message service (SMS) messages from the respective second devices" and
`
`"transmitting a location of the first device to the IP addresses of the second devices," as recited
`
`in claim 1.
`
`For at least the foregoing reasons, Melen docs not teach at least the above-emphasized
`
`limitations of claim I. Claim I tl1ercfore patentably distinguishes over Melen. Withdrawal of the
`
`rejection of claim l under 35 U.S.C. § l 02 is respectfully requested. Claims 2-8 and IO depend
`
`from claim 1 and are allowable for at least the same reasons. Withdrawal of the rejections of
`claims 2-8 and l O is respectfully requested. New claims 3 l -36 depend from claim 1 and are
`
`allowable for at least the same reasons.
