`
`Overview
`
`AssetManagerTM is a NetLinx and PC server application designed to manage
`rooms and equipment- Assetlvlanager monitors equipment in the rooms and sends
`notifications for room problems and help requests. AssetManager allows for the
`logging of room and device use, errors that occur and offline events.
`
`AssetManager offers a variety of build-in reports for historical and statistical
`analysis.
`
`AssetManager provides device monitoring through a user extensible framework.
`This framework allows you to customize what devices should be monitored, the
`conditions that indicates a problem or fault and what type of problem or fault this
`condition represents. AssetManager generates notifications when a fault
`condition occurs and routes the notifications to the appropriate personnel as
`determined by the notification configuration.

`
`It is necessary for you to understand a few points to utilize Assetlvlanager to its
`fullest potential.
`
`Licensing
`
`When a NetLinx system connects to Assetlvlanager, it must be added as a room in
`order to take advantage of all of AssetManager's features. AssetManager is
`licensed by rooms. AssetManager will allow multiple NetLinx systems to
`connect but only those systems that have been added as rooms can be used with
`
`AssetManager features. You will need to obtain one client license for each room
`
`you intend to add to Asset!‘/lanager. Read the USB Security License Key section
`on page 28 and Licensing section on page 37 to learn how to implement the
`license key.
`
`Licensing Summary
`
`A summary of the Assetls/Ianager licensing status can be found both in the
`Configuration Wizard under the Client Licenses option and in the administrative
`web interface.
`
`0 To view the licensing summary in the Configuration Wizard interface,
`select the Client Licenses option under the Licensing section of the
`navigation menu.

`
`Messaging and Notification
`
`AssetManager sends notifications for NetLinx systems problems and
`appointment confirmations. These notifications rely on external messaging
`systems such as email to transfer these messages. You will need to configure
`AssetManager to work with these external systems.
`
`AssetManager can provide Notification through SMTP email and Simple
`Network Pager Protocol (SNPP). Configuring for SMTP is always recommended
`if it is available. Configuring for SNPP should be based on whether your users
`have pagers that support SNPP. Read the SMTP section on page 47 or
`SNPP section on page 49 for setting the Configuration Wizard.

`
`Logging Configuration
`
`Asse-tManagcr logs systems problems for long—terrn storage and historical
`reporting. AssetManager has a built-in log but it also supports Windows Event
`logging and Syslog logging. All logging options can be configured in the
`Configuration Wizard. To learn how to set the logging in the Configuration
`Wizard, read the Logging section on page 50.
`
`Security
`
`AssetManager can be configured to not require secure logins, require secure
`logins but allow for anonymous access or require secure login with no
`anonymous access allowed. AssetManager users are configured with a username,
`password and security level that determines their access to the system.
`
`The account management is configured through the Configuration Wizard. Two
`options. Use Account Management and Allow Anonymous Access are configured
`by the Configuration Wizard. To see how security is set in the Configurati
