`2.3. The problem to be solved by the present invention may therefore be regarded as
`how to improve the security while facilitating the user convenience.

`2.4. Document 02 (see abstract; p. 0041-0043, 0050, 0051, 0095) discloses an
`access control system including a router unit that can communicate with a lock and with
`a central server, the router unit configured to receive data from the server to revoke or
`disable access keys within an offline lock by using a short range communication to
`communicate with the lock, thereby improving the security while facilitating the user
`convenience.
`2.5. The solution described in document 02 provides the same advantages as in the
`present application.
`2.6. The skilled person confronted with the technical problem and 02 would combine
`the teaching of 02 with that of 01 and arrive at the subject-matter of claim 1.
`2.7. The subject-matter of independent claim 1 does therefore not involve an inventive
`step (Articles 52(1) and 56 EPC).
`3.0. Claim 15 is the method corresponding to the system of claim 1. Analogously, the
`same objections are raised against claim 15 (Articles 52(1) and 56 EPC).
`
`3.1. The additional features of dependent claims 2-14 do not appear to add any
`inventive matter (Article 56 EPC):
`-claim 2 would occur to the skilled person without resort to inventive activity, see 01, p.
`0074, 0075 in combination with 02, p. 0050, 0051;
`- claims 3, 4: the use of different stored flag values to indicate that access credentials
`have been enabled or disabled is a mere obvious design detail that cannot form the
`basis for an inventive step (Art. 56 EPC);
`-claims 5, 6: see 01, p. 0082, 0085, 0089;
`-claims 7, 9: see 01, p. 0074, 0075;
`-claim 8: see 02, p. 0032;
`-claims 10, 11: see 01, abstract, p. 0007, 0038, 0044, 0056, 0057, 0061, 0081-0085;
`-claims 12, 13 would occur to the skilled person without resort to inventive activity, see
`01, p. 0038, 0050, 0074, 0075, 0083-0085 in combination with 02, p. 0088;

`4. To meet the requirements of Rule 42(1 )(b) EPC, the documents 01-04 should be
`identified in the description and the relevant background art disclosed therein should be
`briefly discussed.

`In order to comply with the requirements of Rule 137(4) EPC, the applicant should

`A system for securing smart devices within an apartment of a multi-family
`1.
`residential property, system comprising:
`an offline door lock comprising:
`a locking mechanism;
`a sensor configured to receive access credential information from a credential
`device placed in proximity to the sensor;
`a first memory storing access credential validation information;
`a lock processor configured to:
`determine a validity of the received access credential information
`based on the stored access credential validation information; and
`selectively engage the locking mechanism if the received access
`credential information is valid; and
`a smart thermostat hub comprising:
`one or more processors;
`a second memory communicatively coupled to the one or more processors;
`a first communication interface configured to communicatively couple the one
`or more processors to a property management platform via a Long Range (LoRa) wide area
`network (LoRa WAN) communication link; and
