`
`. I am a Records Request Processor at the Internet Archive. I make this declaration
`of my own personal knowledge.
`
`
`2. The Internet Archive is a website that provides access to a digital library of Internet
`sites and other cultural artifacts in digital form. Like a paper library, we provide
`free access to researchers, historians, scholars, and the general public. The Internet
`Archive has partnered with and receives support from various institutions,
`including the Library of Congress.
`
`
`3. The Internet Archive has created a service known as the Wayback Machine. The
`Wayback Machine makes it possible to browse more than 450 billion pages stored
`in the Internet Archive's web archive. Visitors to the Wayback Machine can search
`archives by URL (i.e., a website address). If archived records for a URL are
`available, the visitor will be presented with a display of available dates. The visitor
`may select one of those dates, and begin browsing an archived version of the Web.
`Links on archived files in the Wayback Machine point to other archived files
`(whether HTML pages or other file types), if any are found for the URL indicated
`by a given link. For instance, the Wayback Machine is designed such that when a
`visitor clicks on a hyperlink on an archived page that points to another URL, the

`closest available date to the initial file containing the hyperlink.
`
`
`4. The archived data made viewable and browsable by the Wayback Machine is
`obtained by use of web archiving software that automatically stores copies of files
`available via the Internet, each file preserved as it existed at a particular point in
`time.
`
`
`5. The Internet Archive assigns a URL on its site to the archived files in the format
`http://web.archive.org/web/[Year in yyyy][Month in mm][Day in dd][Time code in
`(cid:75)(cid:75)(cid:29)(cid:80)(cid:80)(cid:29)(cid:86)(cid:86)(cid:64)(cid:18)(cid:62)(cid:36)(cid:85)(cid:70)(cid:75)(cid:76)(cid:89)(cid:72)(cid:71)(cid:3)(cid:56)(cid:53)(cid:47)(cid:64)(cid:3)(cid:68)(cid:78)(cid:68)(cid:3)(cid:68)(cid:81)(cid:3)(cid:179)(cid:72)(cid:91)(cid:87)(cid:72)(cid:81)(cid:71)(cid:72)(cid:71)(cid:3)(cid:56)(cid:53)(cid:47)(cid:180)(cid:17) Thus, the extended URL
`http://web.archive.org/web/19970126045828/http://www.archive.org/ would be the
`URL for the record of the Internet Archive home page HTML file
`(http://www.archive.org/) archived on January 26, 1997 at 4:58 a.m. and 28
`seconds (1997/01/26 at 04:58:28). The date indicated by an extended URL applies
`to a preserved instance of a file for a given URL, but not necessarily to any other
`files linked therein. Thus, in the case of a page constituted by a primary HTML file
`and other separate files (e.g., files with images, audio, multimedia, design
`elements, or other embedded content) linked within that primary HTML file, the
`primary HTML file and the other files will each have their own respective extended
`URLs and may not have been archived on the same dates.
`
`6. Attached hereto as Exhibit A are true and accurate copies of screenshots of the
`Internet Archive's records of the archived files for the URLs and the dates specified
`in the attached coversheet of each printout.

`
`HOW TO MARE NESTS
`THERMOSTAT YOUR SMART-
`HOME HUB
`
`
`
`[8] Nest
`
`THE NEST LEARNING Thermostat does what a thermostatis
`
`supposed to do, turning your heat and AC on and off when
`you need it. And becauseit’s a learning thermostat, it does
`so without manual programming. This beautifully designed
`object has enough built-in smarts to plausibly save money in
`yourelectric and gas bills.
`
`tae
`quicken_sponsor_badge
`
`But what’s most intriguing about
`the Nest Thermostatis how it’s
`
`become the center of a connected
`Nest home ecosystem. The company
`Nest Labs (which is part of Google,
`er, Alphabet) recently added a video
`camera to its product lineup, which
`includes the thermostat and a
`
`smoke and carbon monoxide
`
`detector.
`
`Of course, everything works
`together. Should Nest’s smoke and
`carbon monoxide detector sense
`
`carbon monoxidein your home, for
`example,it will immediately tell the

`
`culprit. Or should the Nest Cam sense movementin your
`home when the thermostat believes nobody’s there, alerts
`can be sent to your phone.
`
`It’s easy to imagine a homeof the very near future
`automated in great part by Nest. We’re just not there yet.
`But if you really want to begin automating your homeright
`now, the Nest Thermostat makes a great start. There’s a
`platform called Works With Nest that makes the thermostat
`interoperable with compatible devices. And even if your
`smart homedevices don’t have the Works With Nest logo on
`the box, you canstill integrate them into your setup using
`some web-based software.
`
`The Recipes
`To makeall of your devices talk to each other, look to the
`cloud. A service called If This Then That (IFTTT) has pre-
`made recipes that can connect your devices. You can use the
`service to program yourdevices to run routines, react to
`triggers, or pass commandsto other devices in your home.
`The Internet of Thingsis a string of connections between
`pieces of hardware, so set them up to control each other.
`
`Pre-heat to 72 Degrees
`Getting close to home? Cold outside? Use this IFTTT recipe
`to have your iOS Location trigger your Nest Thermostat
`when you’re nearing you home.
`
`| Left the Lights On Again?!?
`As soon as your Nest Thermostat determines you aren’t
`home,it can switch off your lights to save bulb life and
`electricity costs. Connect your lamps to a Belkin WeMo
`Switch, then program your Nest to automatically shut them
`down whenyou're not around.
`
`Gee,It’s Hot...
`Doesit feel hot inside, but maybe not too hot? Never trust
`you feelings. Your Philips Huelights will turn red whenit
`heats up inside—pick a temperatureat which to trigger the
`effect and let your Nest do thetrick.
`
`High Alert
`If Nest knows you’re not home, your homesecurity system
`should know, too. Use this IFTTT recipe to have your Nest
`Thermostat arm your Scout Alarm system when you’re not
`home.
`
`No Burst Pipes On My Watch
`It’s the middle of February. You’re on vacation. Your furnace
`has died. How would you ever know? Instruct your Nest to
`send you an email if the temperature drops dangerously low
`in your home.
