`purity DI water. Mix well. This solution may be scaled as necessary.

`volumetric flask. Dilute to volume with HNO3 diluent and mix well.

`Alternatively, if using auto-mixed standards, prepare a 50 ng/mL bulk standard and a 25 ng/mL
`calibration verification standard as follows: for the bulk standard, dilute 0.5 mL Intermediate
`Standard solution to 100 mL in a volumetric flask with HNO3 diluent. Mix well. For the
`calibration verification standard, dilute 0.25 mL Intermediate Standard solution to 100 mL in a
`volumetric flask with HNO3 diluent. On the autosampler, use the HNO3 diluent as the make-up
`solution.
`
`Sample Preparation:
`
`Transfer 40.0 mL of sample, accurately weighed, to a 100-mL volumetric flask and proceed as
`directed in USP <206>. Aliquots from multiple ampoules of the same lot may be combined if
`necessary. Use volumetric glassware to transfer the samples and prepare at least one laboratory
`blank, substituting DI H20 for sample, per lot of L-Cysteine HCl Injection. If 40mL of sample is
`unavailable, use the maximum volume possible that can be volumetrically transferred, scaling
`the final dilution to match the ratio of 40mL initial/I 00mL final.

`Analysis Procedure:
`
`Calibration and Quality Control: After a suitable warm up period, perform a three-point
`calibration using the working standards. Using linear regression, determine the correlation
`coefficient of the theoretical concentrations versus the measured peak height. Next, measure the
`25 ng/mL calibration verification standard as a sample, obtaining the mean of the three
`exposures for the solution to determine system suitability.
`
`System Suitability: The following system suitability requirements must be met before proceeding
`with sample analysis: the correlation coefficient for the calibration curve must be at least 0.99
`and the measured value of the calibration verification standard must agree with its theoretical
`value to within 15%. In the event of a failure to meet either criteria, make any necessary
`adjustments and re-calibrate.
`Sample Measurement: Measure three replicate injections of the sample test solutions. The
`calibration verification standard should be run initially and after no more than six samples during

`reanalyzed. Any sample solution whose absorbance exceeds that of Std 3 should be diluted
`appropriately with HNO3 diluent and reanalyzed.
`
`Calculations:
`
`Construct a calibration plot of the peak heights of the calibration standards versus their
`respective Al concentrations in ng/mL. Using an appropriate data manipulation software, obtain
`the slope, y-intercept, and standard error of estimate of the "best-fit" line.
`
`A working limit of detection refers to the lowest concentration within the solution that can be
`detected by the instrument under the operating conditions. This value is calculated for Al from the
`regression data as:
`

`calculated using appropriate sample weights and/or dilution factors.
