`Groupe Speciale Mobile (GSM) is formed by the Confederation of European Posts and

`Telecommunications (CEPT) to design a pan-European mobile technology.

`France and Germany sign a joint development agreement for GSM.

`‘GAP’ (Groupe d’Analyse et de Prevision’) meetings took place that led to the European
