`
` We never have a product need to pass so much UL standard, This means there's no one standard is suitable for this kind of product.
` I still can provide some information for you.
`
`UL 1642: for the Lithium-ion Cells within the battery
`JS battery cell is already pass.
`UL 2054: For the battery itself
`Battery vendor told us this is based on UL1642 and add EMI,EMC test. It takes one month and 25000 USD dollars.
`Since our product will have the FCC, including the EMI, EMC test. Get this UL test in just another cost.
`UL 60950: for the battery and PC/USB-type charging function as an ITE battery/power supply.
`It seems the PC peripheral product and should connect to the AC source. JS is not IT product and not connect to the AC
`source.
`JS is not this kind of product and uER's power bank with USB output do not need this one to ship to US.
`
`Since it is being used for other functions, one or more of the following may be needed (assuming it is DC output only, and
`does not have 120VAC outputs)
`UL 1310: power supply class 2 (essentially max 100 watt charging power to other device)
`JS only uses the 15V/1A or 12V/1.5A adapter, and the charging max power is 18W. We don't know which one exceed the
`100W charging power.
`UL 1236: Engine Starter Battery charger (UL 1839 is for the jumper cables, not the actual charger/jump starter)
`We still under survey this one. But it may not apply to the Li-battery charger. Lots of the characteristic is totally different.
`UL1839 is the same, because we add the safety module into the cable. It's already totoally different to the tranditional one.
`
` If Lowes still have any concern, please ask them to list the detail test standard and item list. We are willing to follow.
` Per Calvin's experience, if there's new product and need UL to fix a standard, then it takes couple months.
`
` Thanks!
`

`
`Good Day All,
`
`Our Intertek representative responded back regarding potential listing requirements for the InstaBoost. Their suggestions are as
`follows:
`
`UL 1642: for the Lithium-ion Cells within the battery
`UL 2054: For the battery itself
`UL 60950: for the battery and PC/USB-type charging function as an ITE battery/power supply.

`UL 1236: Engine Starter Battery charger (UL 1839 is for the jumper cables, not the actual charger/jump starter)
`
`Note that it is anticipated by Lowe’s that this entire unit will be listed and as I understand it, it is the responsibility of the manufacturer
`(Foxconn) to submit the product to a certified listing agency.

`
`Hi Edwin,
`
`
`Per my previous communication with US QA, we need the attachment checklist completed by the vendor/factory and verified by
`LGS-QA and all technical issues (as reported by Jay) got fixed. This is part of Tony’s note point 8 (APQP) in the email chain below
`before they can move to production.
`
`
`Why Pilot told Foxconn this product does not require UL listing? How about the status of the battery packs certified to UL2054 Safety
`Std for Li Ion Battery packs? I think that you’re doing the right things to get confirmation from Jay and Daniel about the product
`requirement and product testing issue.

`
`
`Hi Jay and Daniel,
`
`
`Further to the visit report from Tony, today we have a phone discussion with Foxconn team and learn the following…..
`
`
`· They are preparing 3 golden samples and planning to ship them out by Tuesday 4/8 for your testing.
`· If the test runs well for those 3 samples, Lowe’s US will provide “Green light” to start mass production.
`· This golden sample will have the latest software design but your recommendation on 3/31 test update such as thermal
`shutdown/protective circuit will not be implemented
`· Mass production timeline – as they will ship samples tomorrow, they expect to hear from Lowe’s in one week. Assuming
`the test result is positive, they target to start their mass production by week of April 22. (Note: During our discussion today,
`we have reminded Foxconn that things like product test, transit and packaging design and artwork must be completed and
`approved before shipment)
`· Pilot (Gavin) told Foxconn this product does not require UL listing
`
`
`
`As we realized that you had a meeting with Pilot (Gavin) last week, can you please confirm us the above comments from Foxconn are
`valid? Or if you have an agreed specification with Pilot, please kindly share with us.
`
`
`Finally, in order to make sure we are on the same page at this critical moment, we propose to have a conference call with you to
`review the status. Please advise if you are available to talk on April 7 9pm US/April 8 9am HK or April 8 10:30am US/April 9
`10:30pm HK?

`
`
`All,
`Below highlighted in blue are the updates during 4/4 visit.
`
`
`1),Lowe’s brand Logo is not clearly seen on 3/19 sample, compared the photo taken last time which is provided to IMM for check on
`2/28,
`it should be obvious different, factory should further check and investigate it.
`
`
`Tony: Lowe’s brand Logo is improved as per action mentioned at previous Email, refer to below photo:
`
`
`
` 4/4 new sample photo provided by Foxconn QA
`
`
`2),Push button of some units still were not recessed because of some wrong old push button used on product.
`
`
`
`Pushbutton not recessed New parts Old parts
`
`
`Tony: 50 Samples used old material is reworked, old material is purged, checking requirement for “push button
`not recessed” is
`required to write on factory’s inspection instruction.
`
`
`3), Safety device on cable – the heat sink that has been added to dissipate the heat.
` However no any thermal pad or thermal grease applied between sink and MOSFETS.
`4), Safety device on cable – were to adjust the pass through wires on the positive conductor,

`
`
`
` factory should pay attention to soldering joint quality.
`
`
`
`5),After final product test which discharged and under 9v output shutdown at factory,
`the unit can’t be directly activated by pressing pushbutton switch unless end user charged it again by adapter.
`Factory test engineer called it as “product locked”, vendor should determine if they will unlock the unit after final test.
`Tony: The similar problem as below Jay mentioned on 3/31 IB test report, Factory will update the software to
`fix these problem,
`Due new PCBA with new software was not available on 4/4 in factory, no verification done.
`
`
`
`
`
`6), Factory shall submit the pilot run report with root cause analysis and corrective action owner, due date for each defectives for
`review,
`cosmetic defect such as gap issue, USB Connector not seated well, edge painting dye..should be included.
`Tony:
`For USB Connector not seated well, edge painting dye’s action is taken,
`For 10A over discharge protection NG, factory will discuss new specification with >12A shut off.
`output Voltage is supposed to change to 9 to 12.6v.
`For LED fail during drop test, action 2 to increase supporting Pin on top cover to fix the PCBA is determined
`and made on new top cover,
`action 1 is cancelled, because factory informed they has checked the test height criteria with Jay to lower it to
`1mm.
`factory shall verify the effectiveness by drop test as new top cover available.
`
`
`1.Per one side solder change
` to two sides solder.—3/28
`2.Top cover increase the pin
` to fix the PCBA—3/24
`
`
`7),For test plan, As per reviewed, factory shall further review and determine PCBA level, Safety cable module, battery test plan,
`Current factory have no fixture/equipment or plan to perform this level test even if no IQC sampling test for these parts.
`Factory shall make plan to monitor these supplier’s product quality, Shall submit complete test plan before next pilot run, end of
`march, Zenglin/Asam Lin
`Tony: Reviewed the test plan for end product, a few test item still need to final determine and confirm,
`factory shall finalize the all test plan and submit with English rev ASAP!
`
`8),APQP(advanced product quality planning) from QMS requirement, this pilot run showed it is not well planning and implemented,
`factory shall establish their APQP process, FMEA Control plan, MSA, SPC(CPK) shall be ready and well implemented for jump
`starter product.
`Tony: factory set up control plan, MSA, CPK, FMEA, in addition, however,
`Current FMEA is not specific for problem identification and analysis and problem prevention, it shall be
`updated.
`factory also shall establish their APQP procedure and DFMEA.

`
`Hi Asam/Mandy/Lynn,
`We were glad to visit FoxConn today as we witnessed surprises. We went through them in details already so please work on them and
`update us with improvement plan asap.
`
`Today’s findings from agenda set from last week:
`·
`Lab testing (abnormal)
`
`o David (3/19): LGS only see testers but no test data or testing were performed on any jump starter samples.
`·
`Application testing (with a van)
`
`o David (3/19): Did not happen as car was out. WHY?
`·
`LGS QA/PE will review detail test, test fixture, test criteria
`
`o David (3/19) LGS Production Engineer Tony Yeung will update more on this.
`·
`Pilot run
`
`o David (3/19) Yes we saw it but wrong part were used without realize until we find out on the line. No data were record.
`o David (3/19) Fail of drop test. LED not working after 5th drop.
`
`l
`Others questions:
`Which UL standard?
`
`To Daniel and Gavin:
`When 50 pcs samples are ready on 3/20. Can the 20pcs directly ship directly to Jay @ Lowe’s QA to begin testing ASAP? The rest
`will goes to Gavin? Please confirm.
