`
`ORDER APPOINTING TECHNICAL ADVISOR
`
`The Court finds that the technology in the above-captioned case is exceptionally complex
`
`and warrants the appointment of a technical advisor. This case involves U.S. Pat. Nos. 7,403,399,
`
`which is titled “Active primary-sided circuit arrangement for a switch-mode power supply;”
`
`7,675,759, which is titled “Power system with power converters having an adaptive controller;”
`
`and 7,675,759 and 8,477,514, which are titled “Power system with power converters having an
`
`adaptive controller.” All of these patents relate to electrical power supply technology. These
`
`patents are classified in the fields of Electricity: Electrical Systems and Devices, Housing or
`
`Mounting Assemblies With Diverse Electrical Components for Semiconductor Device (361/820);
`
`Active Solid-State Devices, Devices Being of Two or More Types (257/E25.029); Electricity:

`
`Power Supply or Regulation Systems, Switched (e.g., Switching Regulators) (323/351); Electric
`
`Power Conversion Systems Encased in Plug Housing (363/146); Electric Power Conversion
`
`Systems, Current Conversion With Means to Connect the Input to Diverse Power Sources
`
`(363/142); and Electric Power Conversion Systems, With Automatic Control of the Magnitude of
`
`Output Voltage or Current (363/21.01). The specifications discuss circuit arrangements for
`
`switch-mode power supplies (’399 Patent at Abstract), a power converter circuit to generate a
`
`regulated voltage signal (’489 Patent at Abstract), and a power system having a power converter
`
`with an adaptive controller (’759 and ’514 Patents at Abstracts). Full appreciation of the parties’
`
`upcoming arguments requires a detailed understanding of electrical engineering and electrical
`
`circuit operation.1
`
`The Court hereby appoints Dr. Joshua J. Yi to serve as the Technical Advisor for the Court
`
`in this case. Given his background and qualifications, the Court is satisfied that Dr. Yi’s
`
`appointment pursuant to the terms of this Order would assist the Court in this case. Dr. Yi’s contact
`
`information is as follows:
