UNITED STATES PATENT AND TRADEMARK OFFICE
`
`BEFORE THE PATENT TRIAL AND APPEAL BOARD
`
`SAMSUNG ELECTRONICS CO., LTD. and
`SAMSUNG ELECTRONICS AMERICA, INC.,
`Petitioners
`v.
`GUI GLOBAL PRODUCTS, LTD., D/B/A GWEE,
`Patent Owner
`
`Case IPR2021-00336
`U.S. Patent No. 10,259,021
`
`PETITIONERS’ REQUEST FOR ORAL ARGUMENT
`
`

`

`Patent No. 10,259,021
`IPR2021-00336
`Pursuant to 37 C.F.R. § 42.70 and the Board’s Scheduling Order dated July 2,
`
`2021 (Paper 12), Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., and Samsung Electronics America,
`
`Inc. (“Petitioners”) request Oral Argument on issues related to patentability of
`
`claims 1-19 of U.S. Patent No. 10,259,021 (the ’021 patent”). Petitioner wishes to
`
`present oral argument on the following issues:
`
` Whether claims 1-19 are unpatentable based on the grounds raised in
`
`the Petition (Paper 3);
`
` Any issues related to the Patent Owner’s Preliminary Response (Paper
`
`10) or the Institution Decision (Paper 11);
`
` Reply to any arguments raised in the Patent Owner’s Response (Paper
`
`15) and Patent Owner’s Sur-Reply (Paper 19);
`
` Response to any issues specified by Patent Owner in its request for oral
`
`argument;
`
` Any issues that may be raised in potential forthcoming Motions to
`
`Exclude Evidence (if any);
`
` Any other issues raised in the briefing pursuant to the schedule; and
`
` Any other outstanding motions and pleadings, and other issues that the
`
`Board deems necessary for issuing a Final Written Decision.
`
`The Board previously scheduled the Oral Argument for this case and related
`
`proceedings, IPR2021-00335, -00337, and -00338 on April 12, 2022. Petitioners
`

`
`

`

`Patent No. 10,259,021
`IPR2021-00336
`request that the Oral Argument in this proceeding be combined with the argument
`
`in the above three proceedings currently scheduled on the same day, such that there
`
`is one consolidated hearing to address the issues raised in all four proceedings.
`
`Petitioners believe the parties need 90 minutes per side for all four combined
`
`IPRs, with the opportunity to reserve a portion of that time for rebuttal.
`
`Petitioners also request permission to use audio and visual equipment to
`
`display demonstratives and exhibits (including remotely if necessary) during the oral
`
`hearing.
`
`Date: March 1, 2022
`
`Respectfully submitted,
