`And what was achieved was a small, light-weight body that can be carried as if it were a part
`of one’s body, an interface that is more natural for humans, and a software with a new
`concept, PIM (Personal Information Management).

`PalmTop powers up the capabilities of people who use it, exceeding the previous concept of
`a computer, which was hardware plus software.

`PIM is a concept for managing the information of modern man.

`PIM was born to freely manipulate
`information that continues to grow. PIM

`the concept of PalmTop. For example,
`PIM is where you have a large “box of
`information” and there are various
`drawers with various categories.
`However, there is no need for you to
`categorize information when you enter
`information. There is only one entrance
`for information. Work schedules and
`information on people, bright ideas,
`private promises, books you want to buy
`and names of records, maps of tasty
`stores. Whatever the information, if you
`throw them in one after the other,
`PalmTop will then automatically process
`them and can draw them out in various
`forms. The more information is stored,
`your personal database will

`each refill page. Also, even when you
`prepare a checklist of actions, if you
`forget to copy the schedule, the

`stories of losing sight of where the
`schedule was written or getting into
`trouble when you forgot to write
`something down in a system notebook.
`Now, in comparison, in PalmNote, the
`date and time and schedule are written
`in the page called “Action.” That data
`can then be seen in units, including a
`week or a month, and it also becomes a
`check list of actions. Similarly, the
`address book in PalmNote can be
`viewed in the form you wish, turning it
`into a telephone book or customer list.
`With just one entry, you can see the
`schedule for that day as well the density
`of work during a month, without any
`forgotten notes or erroneous

`recognition rate, recognition of 3,535 types of
`characters and symbols was achieved. At the
`same time, Sony’s independent software
`development achieved higher speeds in
`character recognition by applying fuzzy logic.
