`AEROSOL INHALER FROM CHIN
`
`OBJECTIVE : Provide a preliminary understanding of the design and features of a
`introduced elecironic cigar (E-Cigar) that yields nicotine containing aerosol when p
`Detennine aerosol and nicotine yields for the E-Cigar under a set of machine smoki
`that would h,:Jp define puffing parameters that could be used for fu ture studie .
`
`SUMMARY: The commercially available electronic cigar from Beijing SBT RUY
`Tech:1ology & Development Co., Ltd, produces a heated aerosol containing tobaccc
`nicotine. Th e rechargeable battery is easily replaced, as is tbe cartridge co ntaining 1
`genernting material (propylene glycol) and tobacco extract. The electronics contain
`that heat is applied only during a puff, generating substantial amount
`cigar are sue
`When compared to Eclipse cigarcllcs on a laboratory smoking mach.ine using a moc
`"intense" puffing regimen (22 puffs, 60ml, 3s duration, one puff every 30s), wet tot
`mattu and nicotine yields we.re comparable. For the electronic cigar, one battery cl
`produced aeroso l for almost 400 puffs, while tbe extract canridge produced aerosol
`pufTs, the equivalent to more than 25 Eclipse cigareltes.
