`Summary
`I am an experienced engineer and project manager, and have worked for over 25 years helping
`companies, many of them start-ups, take products from concept through approvals and into
`market. After working for a number of world-leading technology consultancies, I now work on a
`freelance basis, offering consultancy advice on product development and contract project
`management services. I have particular expertise in medical devices, including coronary catheters,
`surgical instruments, in vitro diagnostic instruments and drug delivery devices.
`Some of the more significant projects that I have managed are listed below:
`•
`The development of an in vitro diagnostic instrument for a UK SME. I worked as the project
`manager of a client team, driving a group of 30 staff to develop the instrument from concept
`to regulatory submission in 9 months.
`The development of a novel colonoscope, from concept to clinical trials. I managed this fast-
`track project to develop, manufacture and verify a new design of endoscope in just over 12
`months.
`The development of a thermography system, used by cardiologists to detect vulnerable
`plaque in coronary arteries. I managed a consortium of companies across Europe and the
`US to deliver an intracoronary catheter, console and pull-back device in aggressive
`timescales.
`The development of a handset for use in electrosurgery. This was a complete turn-key
`project, from concept design to validation and production ramp up, and was completed in
`only 9 months.
`The development of a delivery device for surgical sealant. During the course of the project, I
`generated significant IP in the application of a novel sterilisation technique to the sealant
`primary packaging.
`The development of an organ preservation system, to provide organ preservation, repair and
`assessment prior to transplantation. The project involved development from a prototype to a
`validated system and was conducted under tight time and budget constraints.
`The industrialisation of a needle-safe injection device for a leading European pharma
`company. I worked as the project manager of the client team, managing vendors and
`coordinating activities across the device development, regulatory, QA and supply chain
`departments of the client organisation.
`In addition, I have worked as an expert witness on a patent infringement case, which went to trial,
`involving a consumer drug delivery product.
