`My article reports a surgical technique for opening or tearing the

`trabecular meshwork ("TM") without damaging the external wall of Schlemm' s

`Canal using the tip of a standard hypodermic needle following a tangential

`approach angled toward the anterior chamber of the eye. The work described in my
`
`article did not involve the removal of TM tissue, and the article does not describe
`

`cutting and/ or removing a strip of TM tissue.

`The sentence in my article that reads - "We describe a surgical
`
`method of goniotrabeculotomy which achieves a section of the trabecular
`
`mesh work without damage to the external wall of Schlemm' s canal." - does not
`
`describe the removal of TM tissue. The word "section" in this sentence means an
`
`incision or opening, and does not refer to cutting and/or removing a strip of TM
`
`tissue.

`The sentence in my article that reads - "The tip of the needle stripping

`the trabecular meshwork." - does not describe the removal of TM tissue. The word
`
`"stripping" in this sentence means tearing, and does not refer to cutting and/ or

`removing a strip of TM tissue.

`The sentence in my article that reads - "Only the tip of the instrument
`
`is introduced into Schlemm' s canal, and the TM is stripped slowly, gently and
`
`easily from the canal's lumen towards the anterior chamber as the needle
`
`progresses in the angle (Fig. 2)." - does not describe the removal of TM tissue.
`
`This sentence refers to the tearing of TM away from the external wall of
`
`Schlemm's Canal, and does not refer to cutting and/or removing a strip of TM
`
`tissue. This sentence also refers to a surgical approach where the needle tip enters
`
`and follows Schlemm' s Canal before tearing the TM.
`

`The sentence in my article that reads - "Further studies are necessary
`
`to disclose the 'in vivo' behaviour of the sectioned trabecular meshwork." - does
`
`not describe the removal of TM tissue. The word "sectioned" in this sentence
`
`means an incision or opening, and does not refer to cutting and/ or removing a strip
`
`of TM tissue.
