`54. Protective tray for vehicle interiors.
`57. 1. “Protective tray” for vehicle interiors.
`
`2. The invention concerns floor mats with
`raised edges, forming a tray and providing
`effective protection of the floors and side walls
`of vehicle interiors at the feet of the driver, of the
`passengers, as well as of the trunks, against
`water, mud, snow and other soil.
`
`The protective tray is produced from semi-
`rigid rubber or other material having the same
`properties. The flexibility of the material used
`makes
`it very handleable and
`the rigidity
`presses the raised edges against the walls.
`
`3. The floor 1 is totally covered. The raised
`edges 2 and 3 conform to the topography of the
`interior and do not change
`the aesthetics
`desired by the manufacturer. Some flanges 4
`are retentive to ensure good stability for the unit.
`facilitate
`Judiciously arranged handles 5

`
`1
`
`
`
`The purpose of the present invention is the protection of the floors and
`side walls of vehicle interiors; it concerns automobile floor mats, in the form of
`a tray, the sides of which perfectly conform to the contour of the vehicle
`interior at the feet of the driver, those of front and rear passengers as well as
`front or rear trunks, for the purpose of ensuring effective protection against any
`soiling.
`
`In the known devices of this type, only the floor is protected, even
`
`partially, against water, mud, snow and other soiling. The result is that the
`interior of vehicles is poorly protected and becomes deteriorated. Maintenance,
`which is often difficult, must be carried out frequently in order to preserve a
`presentable interior. Transporting dirty materials in the trunk such as sand is
`not possible unless a lot of time is spent detaching and cleaning the walls.
`
`The protective tray according to the invention makes it possible to avoid
`
`these disadvantages. The edges thereof, of unequal heights, are raised by
`several centimeters over the full periphery thereof and therefore make it
`possible to keep the dirt inside the tray thus formed. The protective tray,
`produced
`from semi-rigid
`rubber or another material having
`the same
`properties, conforms to the contour of the vehicle interior, and thanks to the
`flexibility thereof, handling and installation are easy. The rigidity of the
`material used presses the unit against the side walls of the vehicle. Once the
`protective tray is removed from the vehicle, it can be cleaned by simply
`spraying it off. Transporting sand, gravel, drums that are more or less sealed, in
`the trunk is no problem whatsoever for the maintenance of the vehicle. Muddy
`boots, snow or water cannot harm the vehicle interior. The thinness of the
`material used only encroaches on a few millimeters of the space designed b y
`the vehicle manufacturer, and thus does not change the desired aesthetic aspect.

`
`5
`
`Plate 5/5 is a front 3/4 profile view at a 45° angle of a protective tray
`positioned beneath the feet of the rear passengers of a Lada Niva 4X4.
`
`As shown, the protective tray comprises: a) a corrugated bottom (1)
`
`totally covering the floor; b) raised edges (2) of unequal heights conforming to
`the interior contour of the vehicle, particularly the location of the wheels (3).
`The walls and the bottom are produced from semi-rigid rubber or another
`material having the same properties. A simple pressure exerted on the walls, by
`means of judiciously arranged handles (5), folds down said walls and enables
`the protective tray to be released for removal from the vehicle interior.
`
`Some flanges (4) will be retentively shaped so as to achieve better stability of
`the unit.
`
`10
`

`
`The present invention can be equipped on all vehicles, passenger or utility.

`
`1) A protective tray for automobile or other vehicle, characterized by the
`fact that the edges of the protection are raised over the full periphery, of
`unequal heights following the contour encountered, in order to form a
`tray, produced from semi-rigid rubber or other material having the same
`properties, intended for protection of the floor and interior walls of
`vehicles against any dirt.
`2) The protective tray according to claim 1, characterized in that the raised
`edges conform to the contour of the vehicle interior (3).
`3) The protective tray according to claims 1 and 2, characterized in that the
`flexibility of the material confers great handleability thereto, and in that
`the rigidity of the material allows it to be pressed against the walls of
`the vehicle interior.
`4) The protective tray according to claims 1, 2 and 3, characterized in that
`the flanges (4) can be retentive in order to augment the stability of the
`unit.
`5) The protective tray according to claim 1, characterized in that the bottom
`thereof is corrugated in the lengthwise direction in order to limit
`transverse slipping. (1)
`6) The protective tray according to claims 1, 2, 3 and 4, characterized in
`that the flanges can be equipped with handles (5) in order to facilitate
`the handling thereof.

`tion efficace contre toutes salissured.
`
`Dans les dispositifs connus de ce genre, seul le plancher est proté—
