`Abstract — The diammonium monohydrogenmonophosphate monohydrate(DPHP) salt is monoclinic
`P2Jc with the following unit cell dimensions: a=6.956(2)k; b= 16.654 (3)A; c=7.782(l)Â;
`p= 113.80 (1)°; Z=4, Dm= 1.544 Mg.m~3, The N-diethylenediammonium monohydrogenmonophos-
`phate dihydrate (N-DDHP) salts is orthorhombic P212121 with: a= 16.934 (2)À; ô= 10.571 (2)Â;
`c = 6.067 (1)Â; Z=4, Dm— 1,440 Mg.m~3. The structure of these salts is builtfrommonophosphoric
`acid, diamino-1,3propane (or N-diéthylène diamine) and water molecules connected by hydrogenbonds.

`AbridgedEnglish Version — INTRODUCTION. — During a systematic investigation of inte-
`raction between monophosphoric acid and various kinds of aliphatic amines, numerous mono-
`phosphates of ethylene diamine salts have been described:

`The detailed crystallographic and structural features are given.
`CHEMICALPRÉPARATION. — The (DPHP) and the (N-DDHP) are obtained by mixing in

`in the solution. Large crystals of (N-DDHP) ranging from 5 to 15 mm size may be obtained
`by adding ethanol (Vol./Vol.). The chemical analysis of phosphorous and acidic protons has
`been carried out [5].
`The thermogravimetricanalysis shows that (DPHP) and (N-DDHP) crystallize respectively
`with one and two water molecules.
`CRYSTALLOGRAPHIC STUDY. — The Weissenberg and oscillation photographs taken with
`Cut&a!, a2) radiation show that the (DPHP) and the (N-DDHP) crystallize respectively in
`the monocliniç and the orthorhombic Systems with the following unit-cell dimensions:
`e = 7.782 (1)Â, B=113.80 (1)°
`« = 6.956(2)Â, b=16.654(3)Â,
`
`and
`
`.
`
`«=16.934 (2)Â, *= 10.571 (2)À,
`f = 6.067 (1)Â
`The unit-cell dimensions have been obtained from a least squares refinement using the
`angular data of the diffractograms reported in Tables I and II.
`For the (DPHP) the observed existence conditions: {0k0, k = 2n; h0l, l=2n] indicate
`that the space group is P2x/c.
`For the (N-DDHP) the observed existence conditions: {h00, h = 2n; h = 2n, 0k0, k = 2n;
`00l, 1=2n) are compatible with the non centrosymmetriç spale group P212l21.
`Densities were measured at room temperature by flottation in bromobenzene. The average
`values of densities Dm= 1.544 Mg.m-3 and Dm= 1.440 Mg.m- 3
`the
`respectively for
`(DPHP) and the (N-DDHP) are in agreement with those calculated Dx= 1.531 Mg.m" 3
`and 0^=1.451 Mg.m- 3. Each cell contains four formula units of the (DPHP) and the
`Indexed powder data are given in Tables I and II. The atomic coordinates
`(N-DDHP),
`of these salts are given in Table III. The projection of their structures on the (a, b) plane
`is depicted in Figure. The examination of the structure shows that the monohydrogenmono-
`phosphate ions of the (N-DDHP) are individualized (cf. Fig., B) but those of the (DPHP)
`through hydrogen bond: O-H(02)...0(l) forming infinite
`linked together
`are

`chains parallel

`ted to the monohydrogenmonophosphate ions through hydrogen bonds N —H.

`INTRODUCTION. - L'étude de
`(NH3 (CH2)2NH(CH2)2NH3]. HPQ4.2 H20 et
`[NH3 (CH2)3NH3]. HP04.
