`Petition for Inter Partes Review, Exhibit 1002
`1. Claim 1
`(a) [Preamble]: “A portable smart card reader device for reading a smart card having
`recorded information stored on an integrated circuit incorporated into the card, the
`device comprising:
`(b) Element [1.A.1]: “a sensor for reading said recorded information stored on said
`integrated circuit incorporated into said card
`(c) Element [1.A.2]: “and for producing an analog signal indicative of the recorded
`information,
`(d) Element [1.A.3]: “said sensor including circuitry for converting said analog signal to
`a format suitable for transmission to a jack of a mobile communication device; and
`(e) Element [1.B.1]: “an output jack adapted to be inserted into a jack associated with
`said mobile communication device for providing the converted signal indicative of
`the recorded information to said mobile communication device
`(f) Element [1.B.2]: “for transmission to a transaction server for further processing.”
`2. Claim 2
`(a) “The card reader device from claim 1, in which the smart card is selected from a
`group consisting of a chip card, EMV card, proximity detector or NFC card,
`contactless card, or any combination thereof.”
`3. Claim 3
`(a) Preamble: “A method for reading a smart card having recorded information stored
`on an integrated circuit incorporated into the card, the method comprising the steps
`of:
`(b) Element [3.A]: “providing a portable card reader device comprising a sensor for
`reading the recorded information stored on the integrated circuit, and an output jack
`adapted to be inserted into a jack associated with a mobile communication device;
`(c) Element [3.B]: “wherein said portable card reader device produces an analog signal
`indicative of the recorded information stored on said integrated circuit;
`(d) Element [3.C]: “said analog signal suitable for transmission to said jack of said
`mobile communication device;
