`EX. 1008, Page 005
`
`

`

`[0001]
`[Field of the Invention]
`
`The present invention relates to a digital camera device that picks up an
`image to save the image in a memory, that reduces consumed power because the
`check of the image is performed on a portable terminal device, and that can be
`produced at low cost.
`[0002]
`[Conventional Art]
`
`A conventional general digital camera device is configured to pick up an
`image while the image is checked on a liquid crystal display device included in a
`main body, and to save the picked-up image in a memory device that is detachable
`from the main body.
`[0003]
`[Problems to be Solved by the Invention]
`
`However, the digital camera device described above is very expensive because
`of including the liquid crystal display device that displays the image, and a high
`electric power is required for the drive.
`[0004]
`
`The present invention has been made in view of such problems, and an object
`thereof is to provide an inexpensive and consumed power-saving digital camera
`device that allows the pickup, check and erasure of the image by connecting with a
`portable terminal through a connection cable and connection terminal included in
`the digital camera device or wireless communication means and transferring the
`image to the portable terminal to display the image.
`[0005]
`[Means for Solving the Problems]
`
`In order to achieve the above-described object, the present invention is a
`digital camera device including: a pickup means for picking up an image; a memory
`
`- 6 -
`
`GoPro/Garmin
`EX. 1008, Page 006
`
`

`

`for holding the picked-up image; a connection means for performing connection with
`a portable terminal device that includes a display means; and a transfer means for
`transferring the image held in the memory to the portable terminal device through
`the connection means, wherein the display means of the portable terminal device
`displays the transferred image.
`[0006]
`
`Here, the memory in which the image is saved is built in the digital camera
`device. For example, the portable terminal device is a PHS terminal, a portable
`phone or the like. The connection means includes a cable that is contained in the
`digital camera device and a connection terminal that can be connected with the
`portable terminal device, and the transfer means has a function to transfer the
`image held in the memory to the portable terminal device by a predetermined
`action.
`[0007]
`
`Further, the digital camera device may further include a means for selecting
`a predetermined image from a plurality of images held in the memory, wherein the
`transfer means transfers the predetermined image. Further, the digital camera
`device may further include an erasure means for erasing the image displayed on the
`display means of the portable terminal device, from the memory of the digital
`camera device.
`[0008]
`
`For the selection or erasure of an arbitrary image, a predetermined action
`may be performed with the digital camera device, or the digital camera device may
`be previously programed such that the selection or erasure of the image can be
`performed in response to an instruction from the portable terminal device, that is,
`when a predetermined action is performed with the portable terminal device.
`[0009]
`
`- 7 -
`
`GoPro/Garmin
`EX. 1008, Page 007
`
`

`

`According to the above configuration, it is possible to check the image as
`
`needed, using the portable terminal device, without providing an image display part
`on a main body of the digital camera device, and it is possible to erase an
`unnecessary image file from the memory of the digital camera device.
`[0010]
`
`Further, since the image display part is not provided in the main body of the
`digital camera device, the consumed power is low and the production can be
`performed at low price, allowing an application to the utilization as a disposable
`type that can be reused.
`[0011]
`
`Further, the digital camera device may perform pickup, image check, erasure
`and the like, using a wireless communication means as the above connection means.
`The work becomes easier, and even when a user himself/herself is included as a
`subject, an intended image can be surely picked up.
`[0012]
`[Embodiments of the Invention]
`
`Hereinafter, embodiments of the present invention will be described in detail
`based on the drawings. Figure 1 is an external perspective view when a digital
`camera device 1 according to a first embodiment of the present invention and a
`portable terminal device 50 are connected, Figure 2 shows a front view and a back
`view of the digital camera device 1, Figure 3 is a top view of the digital camera
`device 1, and Figure 4 is a bottom view of the digital camera device 1.
`[0013]
`
`As shown in Figures 1, 2, 3 and 4, the digital camera device 1 includes a
`shutter 3, a check/erasure button 5, a finder 7, a liquid crystal display part 9, a
`power switch 11, a flash 13, a lens 15, a connection terminal 21, a cable 23 and the
`like.
`[0014]
`
`- 8 -
`
`GoPro/Garmin
`EX. 1008, Page 008
`
`

`

`The digital camera device 1 can be connected with a connection part 57 of the
`
`portable terminal device 50, through the cable 23 and terminal 21 included in the
`main body. The portable terminal device 50 is a general PHS terminal device,
`portable phone, or the like, and for example, includes a display part 53 on which an
`image can be displayed, a mode selection button 55 for function selection, a button
`group 59 through which characters, numbers and the like can be input, and the
`connection part 57 that is used at the time of charge, image transfer and the like.
`[0015]
`
`The shutter 3, which is provided, for example, at an upper part of the digital
`camera device 1, is pushed when the image is picked up, and may have a function to
`automatically adjust focus by half-push.
`[0016]
`
`The check/erasure button 5 is provided, for example, at an upper part of the
`digital camera device 1 similarly, and when the image is checked, erased or
`photographed with the portable terminal device 50, a mark 6 is moved to the
`position of a check mark 8, an erasure mark 10 or a photographing mark 12 and is
`pushed, so that the action for the check, erasure or photographing of the image is
`performed.
`[0017]
`
`The finder 7 is an observation window that allows a subject to be checked
`from a back surface of the digital camera device 1 through a lens when the
`photographing of the image is performed. The liquid crystal display part 9 is
`provided, for example, on the back surface of the digital camera device 1, and
`displays the remaining photographable image number of the memory. The liquid
`crystal display part 9 performs the display in black and white, without displaying
`the picked-up image. Accordingly, even when the liquid crystal display part 9 is
`driven, the consumed power is low. The power switch 11 is a switch that turns
`on/off the power of the digital camera device 1.
`
`- 9 -
`

`EX. 1008, Page 009
`
`

`

`[0018]
`
`The flash 13 is provided, for example, at an upper part of a front surface of
`the digital camera device 1, and performs light emission when the light quantity
`from the subject is insufficient. The light emission may be manually performed by
`providing a switch (not illustrated), or the light emission may be automatically
`performed while the light quantity from the lens 15 is sensed.
`[0019]
`
`The lens 15 is provided, for example, at a central part of the front surface of
`the digital camera device 1, and is typically constituted by a plurality of lenses for
`enlarging the subject to an appropriate magnification or for performing the focusing
`on the subject. The lens 15 may be configured to automatically adjust the
`distances among the plurality of lenses so as to focus on a subject positioned in a
`predetermined region on the lens 15, for example, by the half-push of the shutter 3.
`[0020]
`
`The connection terminal 21 and the cable 23 are provided, for example, at a
`lower part of the digital camera device 1. The cable 23 is configured to be
`contained in the main body and can be drawn out at the time of use. The
`connection terminal 21 is a terminal that can be connected with the connection part
`57 provided on the portable terminal device 50.
`[0021]
`
`Next, the configuration of the digital camera device 1 will be described with
`reference to Figure 5. Figure 5 is a block diagram showing the configuration of the
`digital camera device 1. A CCD 31, which is a solid-state image sensing device,
`receives the incoming light from the lens 15, and converts the light into electric
`signals. An image processing circuit 33 receives the signals output from the CCD
`31, and performs the rearrangement of the signals in accordance with the scan
`method, the conversion of the signals in accordance with the format of color signals,
`the digitization of the signals, and the like.
`
`- 10 -
`
`GoPro/Garmin
`EX. 1008, Page 010
`
`

`

`[0022]
`
`A power circuit 35 is turned on/off by the operation of the power switch 11,
`and supplies power to each part of the digital camera device 1. An optical system
`drive circuit 37 sends a drive signal that is sent to the flash 13 when the light
`quantity from the lens 15 is insufficient, a signal for performing the focusing by
`adjusting the distances among the plurality of lenses included in the lens 15, a
`signal for adjusting a diaphragm, and the like.
`[0023]
`
`A microcomputer 39 is connected with the shutter 3, the check/erasure button
`5, the image processing circuit 33, the optical system drive circuit 37, a memory 41,
`a display circuit 43, an interface circuit 45, and the like, and controls the action of
`the digital camera device 1, for example, by receiving signal from the parts and
`sending necessary signals. In the memory 41, an image file digitized by the image
`processing circuit 33 and created as a file by the microcomputer 39 is saved.
`[0024]
`
`The display circuit 43 is a circuit that drives and controls the liquid crystal
`display part 9. The interface circuit 45 is a circuit that controls the sending and
`receiving with the exterior, for example, that sends signals from the digital camera
`device 1 to the portable terminal device 50 through the cable 23 and the connection
`terminal 21, or that receives signals from the portable terminal device 50 and sends
`the signals to the microcomputer 39.
`[0025]
`
`Next, the action of the digital camera device 1 will be described with reference
`to Figure 6. Figure 6 is a flowchart showing the action of the digital camera device
`1. First, the power switch 11 is set to "ON", and the power of the digital camera
`device 1 is turned on (step 501).
`[0026]
`
`- 11 -
`
`GoPro/Garmin
`EX. 1008, Page 011
`
`

`

`The subject is viewed from the finder 7, and the pickup is performed by
`
`pushing the shutter 3 (step 502). At this time, when the shutter 3 is put into a
`half-push state, a signal for adjusting the diaphragm depending on the quality of
`the incoming light from the lens 15, and a predetermined signal from the optical
`system drive circuit 37 for the focusing on a subject positioned at a predetermined
`part on the lens 15 may be sent.
`[0027]
`
`Here, the pickup means that the light entering the lens 15 enters the CCD 31
`through a predetermined optical system constituted by a filter, a prism or the like
`(not illustrated), and is converted to electric signals, the signal processing is
`performed by the image processing circuit 33, and the file is created by the
`microcomputer 39 and is saved in the memory 41 as an image file. When the
`pickup is repeated in this way, a plurality of image files is saved in the memory 41.
`[0028]
`
`Next, processes for checking and erasing the image saved in the memory 41
`will be described. For checking the picked-up image, the cable 23 included in the
`digital camera device 1 is drawn out when appropriate, and the connection terminal
`21 is connected with the connection part 57 of the portable terminal device 50 (step
`503). Then, the image saved in the memory 41 of the digital camera device 1 is
`transferred to the portable terminal device 50, and is displayed (step 504).
`[0029]
`
`That is, the image can be transferred and displayed one by one, by moving the
`mark 6 of the check/erasure button 5 of the digital camera device 1 to the check
`mark 8 and pushing the check/erasure button 5. As another method, the
`microcomputer 39 may be previously programed such that the image can be sent in
`order or in reverse order to be displayed one by one when one of the mode selection
`button 55 and button group 59 of the portable terminal device 50 is pushed.
`[0030]
`
`- 12 -
`
`GoPro/Garmin
`EX. 1008, Page 012
`
`

`

`Next, whether the displayed image is erased is judged (step 505). When the
`
`displayed image is intended to be erased, the displayed image can be erased from
`the memory 41, by moving the mark 6 of the check/erasure button 5 of the digital
`camera device 1 to the erasure mark 10 and pushing the check/erasure button 5.
`As another method, the microcomputer 39 may be previously programed such that
`the displayed image is erased from the memory 41 when one of the mode selection
`button 55 and button group 59 of the portable terminal device 50 is pushed (step
`506). When the displayed image is not erased, the process proceeds to step 507.
`[0031]
`
`Furthermore, whether the next image is displayed is judged (step 507).
`When the next image is displayed, the image is transferred and displayed one by
`one, by moving the mark 6 of the check/erasure button 5 of the digital camera
`device 1 to the check mark 8 and pushing the check/erasure button 5. As another
`method, the microcomputer 39 may be previously programed such that the image
`can be sent in order and in reverse order to be displayed one by one when one of the
`mode selection button 55 and button group 59 of the portable terminal device 50 is
`pushed.
`[0032]
`
`Thereafter, the process returns to step 505, and the same action is repeated.
`When it is not necessary to display the next image, the action ends. The digital
`camera device 1 is a disposable type, and the memory cannot be demounted.
`Therefore, after the memory 41 is used up, the digital camera device 1 is taken to a
`shop, and the printing on a photographing paper is requested. In the shop, the
`exterior member of the digital camera device 1 is removed, and the treatment for
`printing is performed. Thereafter, the memory 41 is cleared, the power circuit 35
`is charged, a new exterior member is attached, and the digital camera device 1 is
`sold again. Thus, the digital camera device 1 can be reused.
`[0033]
`
`- 13 -
`
`GoPro/Garmin
`EX. 1008, Page 013
`
`

`

`In the above example, the case where the image to be picked up is viewed and
`
`checked from the finder 7 provided on the digital camera device 1 has been
`described. However, when the connection terminal 21 is connected with the
`connection part 57 of the portable terminal device 50 and the mark 6 of the
`check/erasure button 5 is moved to the photographing mark 12, the image to be
`picked up is displayed on the display part 53 of the portable terminal device 50 in
`real time (this image is referred to as a live image, hereinafter), and in this state,
`the shutter 3 is pushed or a corresponding operation is performed with the portable
`terminal device 50, so that the pickup is performed.
`[0034]
`
`As described above in detail, in the digital camera device 1 according to the
`embodiment, without providing the image display part such as a color liquid crystal
`on the main body, it is possible to check the image on the display part 53 of the
`portable terminal device 50, by transferring the image file picked up with the
`portable terminal device 50 connected, and to erase an unnecessary image from the
`memory 41.
`[0035]
`
`Thus, since the image display part is not provided on the main body, it is
`possible to reduce the consumed power, and since the main body only has to contain
`a battery therein, it is possible to perform the production at low cost.
`[0036]
`
`Further, when the production is performed such that an outer case part can
`be easily detached, components become reusable by recharging the battery in the
`interior and refreshing the memory, and the present invention can be utilized as a
`disposable type digital camera device that is brought to the shop for requesting the
`printing at the time when the memory is used up.
`[0037]
`

`
`

`

`Next, a digital camera device according to a second embodiment will be
`
`described with reference to Figures 7, 8, 9 and 10. Here, identical reference
`characters are assigned to members having the same functions and configurations
`as the digital camera device 1 according to the first embodiment, and detailed
`descriptions are omitted.
`[0038]
`
`Figure 7 is an external perspective view when a digital camera device 100
`according to a second embodiment of the present invention and a portable terminal
`device 150 are connected by wireless communication, Figure 8 is a block diagram
`showing the configuration of the digital camera device 100, and Figures 9 and 10
`are flowcharts showing the action of the digital camera device 100.
`[0039]
`
`As shown in Figure 7, the digital camera device 100 includes the shutter 3,
`the check/erasure button 5, the finder 7, the liquid crystal display part 9, the power
`switch 11, the flash 13, the lens 15, an antenna 102, and the like.
`[0040]
`
`The digital camera device 100 can be connected with the portable terminal
`device 150 through the antenna 102 included in the main body, by wireless
`communication. The portable terminal device 150 is a general PHS terminal
`device or portable phone, or the like, and for example, includes the display part 53
`on which the image can be displayed, the mode selection button 55 for function
`selection, the button group 59 through which characters, numbers and the like can
`be input, an antenna 61 that is used at the time of a call or a wireless
`communication with the digital camera device 100, and the like.
`[0041]
`
`The digital camera device 100 is different from the digital camera device 1 in
`that the connection with the portable terminal device is performed by wireless
`communication. Therefore, the digital camera device 100 includes the antenna 102,
`
`- 15 -
`
`GoPro/Garmin
`EX. 1008, Page 015
`
`

`

`and performs the wireless communication with the antenna 61 of the portable
`terminal device 150.
`[0042]
`
`Next, the configuration of the digital camera device 100 will be described with
`reference to Figure 8. The digital camera device 100 is different from the digital
`camera device 1 in that a wireless transceiver 104 and the antenna 102 are
`provided instead of the interface circuit 45, the cable 23 and the connection
`terminal 21.
`[0043]
`
`The wireless transceiver 104 performs a wireless transmission/reception for
`transferring the image file saved in the memory 41 to the portable terminal device
`150 or transferring the live image to the portable terminal device 150 for checking
`the image to be photographed, when a predetermined action is performed, for
`example, when one of the check/erasure button 5 of the digital camera device 100
`and the mode selection button 55 or button group 59 of the portable terminal device
`150 is pushed. On this occasion, radio waves are sent and received through the
`antenna 102.
`[0044]
`
`Further, a memory 47 is a memory in which the live image is temporarily
`saved when the photographing is performed while the live image from the digital
`camera device 100 is checked on the display part 53 of the portable terminal device
`150.
`[0045]
`
`Next, the action for checking or erasing the image saved in the memory 41 of
`the digital camera device 100 will be described with reference to Figure 9. First,
`the power switch 11 is set to "ON", and the power of the digital camera device 100 is
`turned on (step 601).

`

`The subject is viewed from the finder 7, and the pickup is performed by
`
`pushing the shutter 3 (step 602).
`[0047]
`[0048]
`
`Next, a process for checking or erasing the image saved in the memory 41 will
`be described. For checking the picked-up image, the digital camera device 100 and
`the portable terminal device 150 are connected by wireless communication (step
`603). The wireless connection can be performed using Bluetooth (Blue Tooth), a
`portable phone line or the like.
`[0049]
`
`The wireless connection may be automatically performed when both of the
`portable terminal device 150 and the digital camera device 100 are powered on and
`are placed in a range allowing the wireless communication. Alternatively, a switch
`or the like for performing the wireless connection may be provided on the digital
`camera device 100, and a procedure of pushing this may be provided. Further, in
`the case of using the portable phone line, means for calling a particular telephone
`number may be provided.

`

`Then, the image saved in the memory 41 of the digital camera device 100 is
`
`transferred to the portable terminal device 150, to be displayed (step 604). That is,
`the image can be transferred and displayed one by one, by moving the mark 6 of the
`check/erasure button 5 of the digital camera device 100 to the check mark 8 and
`pushing the check/erasure button 5. As another method, the microcomputer 39
`may be previously programed such that the image can be sent in order or in reverse
`order to be displayed one by one when one of the mode selection button 55 and
`button group 59 of the portable terminal device 150 is pushed.
`[0051]
`
`Next, whether the displayed image is erased is judged (step 605). When the
`displayed image is intended to be erased, the displayed image can be erased from
`the memory 41, by moving the mark 6 of the check/erasure button 5 of the digital
`camera device 100 to the erasure mark 10 and pushing the check/erasure button 5.
`As another method, the microcomputer 39 may be previously programed such that
`the displayed image is erased from the memory 41 when one of the mode selection
`button 55 and button group 59 of the portable terminal device 150 is pushed (step
`606). When the displayed image is not erased, the process proceeds to step 607.
`[0052]
`
`Furthermore, whether the next image is displayed is judged (step 607).
`When the next image is displayed, another image is displayed by performing the
`corresponding action again with the digital camera device 100 or the portable
`terminal device 150 (step 608). That is, the image is transferred and displayed one
`by one, by moving the mark 6 of the check/erasure button 5 of the digital camera
`device 100 to the check mark 8 and pushing the check/erasure button 5. As
`another method, the microcomputer 39 may be previously programed such that the
`image can be sent in order and in reverse order to be displayed one by one when one
`of the mode selection button 55 and button group 59 of the portable terminal device

`

`150 is pushed. Thereafter, the process returns to step 605, and the same action is
`repeated. When it is not necessary to display the next image, the action ends.
`[0053]
`
`Next, a method in which the pickup by the digital camera device 100 is
`performed in response to an instruction from the portable terminal device 150 will
`be described with reference to Figure 10. First, the digital camera device 100 is
`fixed at a place allowing the photographing, with a tripod stand or the like (step
`701). The power switch 11 is set to "ON", and the power of the digital camera
`device 100 is turned on (step 702).
`[0054]
`
`Subsequently, the portable terminal device 150 and the digital camera device
`100 are connected wirelessly (step 703). The wireless connection can be performed
`using Bluetooth (Blue Tooth), a portable phone line or the like.
`[0055]
`[0056]
`
`In the embodiment, first, the live image captured on the lens 15 is transferred
`to the memory 47 (step 704), instead of performing the pickup by viewing the
`subject from the finder 7 and pushing the shutter 3. The live image is transferred
`to the portable terminal device 150 through the wireless communication, and is
`displayed on the display part 53, to be checked (step 705).

`
`

`

`The live image on the display part 53 is checked, and whether it is picked up
`
`is judged (step 706). When it is picked up, a corresponding operation is performed
`with the portable terminal device 150, and the image generated on the display part
`53 is saved in the memory 41 of the portable terminal device 100 (step 707).
`[0058]
`
`Here, for the corresponding operation, it is preferable that the microcomputer
`39 be previously programed such that the pickup is pe
