`date is usually the day the thesis was defended (which was January 5, 1988).
`• Are any librarians from that time (approx. 1990) still working there? Preferably from the mathematics
`& information science library?
`• Can anyone (e.g. the above-mentioned librarian) describe how a thesis was filed then? Particularly: At
`the time, was a code used specifically for the subject of the thesis or would I have been able to find it
`then just using the author’s name? Would someone have been able to find this thesis without knowing
`the author’s name?

`The reason I am asking these questions is that I am trying to prove that an old patent was not as new/
`innovative as considered at the time, because the author of this thesis published certain technologies. But,
`according to certain specific rules, a thesis only counts as an official publication if the public (and not, e.g.
`just students) were able to find this work in a library (by searching by subject, not the author’s name).

`Deze tiel is in onze catalogus ingevoerd op 26-04-1988. Vanaf deze datum kon
`dit werk uit de catalogus worden aangevraagd. Bij de invoer heeft dit
`proefschrift de volgende trefwoorden ontvangen:
`Trefwoord Depot: Informatieverwerking
`Trefwoord GOO: Datatransmissie, Fouten, Correctie , Coderingstheorie ;
`Proefschriften (vorm)
`Aan deze trefwoorden is sindsdien niets meer veranderd, verwijderd of
`toegevoegd.
`De online catalogus van KBNationale Bibliotheek http://opc4.kb.nl/  biedt
`diverse zoeksleutels aan. Deze publicatie is vanaf de invoer te vinden met de
`zoeksleutels alle woorden, titelwoorden, naam auteur, trefwoord Depot,
`Trefwoord GOO, uitgever en aanvraagnummer.
`Deze publicatie werd na aankomst bij KB|Nationale Bibliotheek als volgt
`behandeld: er werd een titebeschrijving vervaardigd, er werd een
`aanvraagummer (is tevens plaatsingsnummer in de magazijnen) aan
`toegekend, de titelbeschrijving werd in de catalogus ingevoerd en het boek
`werd in het magazijn geplaatst en was vanaf dat moment aanvraagbaar en
`raadpleegbaar. Een bibliothecaris zoals door u omschreven heeft KB|Nationale
`Bibliotheek niet.
