MODEL # AAI-FRD2
`Ford Auxiliary Audio Input Interface
`95-97 Sedan / Pick-Ups / SUV
`
`NOTE: When first connecting the interface to the radio, disconnect the supplied toggle switch.
`After the interface has been initialized and if the install will be retaining a factory CD
`changer, reconnect the toggle switch to enable toggling between the aux. inputs and the
`factory CD changer.
`
`Description
`The AAI-FRD2 allows direct low level input into your OEM system as long as the vehicle has factory
`changer controls. Input through one or all of the three RCA inputs provided. The inputs can be used for
`units such as a MP3, DVD, VCP and satellite radio. The interface is controlled via the factory radio and
`the appropriate input is displayed. The AAI-FRD2 also provides the necessary harnesses to allow the
`retention of a factory changer.
`
`Installation
`Remove the factory radio and unplug both 8 and 16-pin harnesses and plug in the 8 and 16-pin female
`side of the “T” harness. Then plug the male side of the 8 and 16-pin harness in to car-side. When the
`interface is used only as a auxiliary input then connect the thin red and black wires together. If the
`there is a factory changer present then use the supplied switch which will allow you to toggle between
`the 3 auxiliary inputs and the factory changer. Install the provided toggle switch in a suitable position. If
`you are using multiple units then match the levels with the provided gain potentiometers on the rear of
`the AAI-FRD2.
`***Note: If no radio antenna is present behind the radio it will require the AAI-FRD2.
`
`Operation:
`Turn the factory radio on and select the CD Changer option. If there is no factory changer present or the
`supplied toggle switch is in the AUX position, the radio display will show; “CD 1 TRACK 11”. If the toggle
`switch is in the CD changer position, the radio display will show; “CD 1- TRACK 1”.
`
`When operating in the AUX mode, you select any one of the three AUX inputs by pressing the TUNE
`button to cycle through the AUX inputs. Flip the toggle switch to go into Changer mode. All changer
`functions remain unchanged from factory operation.
