`
`DETAILED ACTION
`
`Allowable Subject Matter
`
`Claims 1-36 are allowed in view of the Applicant's arguments (Responsefiled
`
`4/24/2006, see Applicant’s arguments for detail) and the cited prior art of record. The
`
`independentclaims recite fast path processing at a network interface device on a
`
`responseto a solicited read commandin which the responseis placed directly into the
`
`destination memory of the host computer, wherein the networkinterface device handles
`
`the network layer processing and transport layer processing, enabling the host
`
`computer's protocol stack including a session layer portion that only processesthe
`
`session layer protocol, resulting in offloading the transport and network layer protocol
`
`processing to the networkinterface device, freeing up processing from the host
`
`computer, which, in addition to the rest of the claim limitations, are distinguished from
`
`the prior art. For support, see Instant Specification (paragraphs 14, 54-59, 62).
`
`Any comments considered necessary by applicant must be submitted no later
`
`than the payment of the issue fee and, to avoid processing delays, should preferably
`
`accompanythe issue fee. Such submissions should beclearly labeled “Comments on
`
`Statement of Reasons for Allowance.”
