`RESEARCH FOCUS
`
` I
`
` have investigated benign and malignant prostate disease since the late nineties. I was the first in the US to
`research, refine and implement radiofrequency thermal ablation of the prostate putting minimally invasive
`therapy on the map. I am the inventor and holder of the first patent demonstrating splitting of a
`radiofrequency energy wave into two RF energies in phase for dual functionality in endoscopic surgery (tissue
`cutting and coagulation). I have made advances in technology and surgical technique of various thermal and
`laser ablation therapy of the prostate that have positively impacted many patients around the world. In
`addition, I am currently actively engaged in prostate cancer surgical outcome research (urinary incontinence
`post-prostatectomy - JAMA 2011) and in epidemiology particularly as it relates to risk factors (LDL in prostate
`cancer and African Americans - Journal of Urology 2009).
