`ABSTRACT
`The present invention relates to a monitor mounted to a headrest of a vehicle seatback. A monitor receiving
`hollow (4) is formed in a headrest (3), and a shield case (5) which blocks electromagnetic wave is installed
`inside the monitor receiving hollow (4). In a shield case (5), hinge holes (5) are created then a hinge shaft is
`joint against coupling holes (7a) in a hinge boss(7) located in the lower parts of the monitor’s back surface, with
`frictions so that the attached monitor (6) can pivot inside the shield case and which uses the space more
`efficiently. Such installation allows efficient use of space. This invention minimizes the inconvenience of
`obstructing other passenger’s view and enables an easy adjustment of tilt angle, independent from the
`headset’s inclination angle adjusted by the front seat passenger.

`GOALS OF THE EMBODIMENT
`
`

`BACKGROUND ART AND EXISTING TECHNOLOGY
`The present invention is related to a monitor mounted in the back of the headrest, employing better adjustment
`of the headrest’s inclination angle which will help a rear seat passenger watching the monitor.
`In an aircraft, a bus or an automobile, a monitor is generally installed on the inner front panel, or placed in
`between a driver’s seat and a passenger seat. As a result, a rear seat monitor takes up space and the installed
`monitor obstructs other passenger’s view.

`TECHNICAL PROBLEM THE INVENTION AIMS TO SOLVE
`The primary object of the present invention is to solve the space problem by installing a monitor in the back of
`the headrest.
`The second object is to solve the obstruction to other passenger’s view.
`The additional goal is to enable the monitor’s tilt angle adjustment independent from the headrest’s inclination
`angle, more suitable for watching a screen.
`
`STRUCTURE AND OPERATION OF THE EMBODIMENT
`In order to accomplish the aims above, the present invention contemplates a shield case installed in a monitor
`receiving hollow, which blocks the electromagnetic waves generated from a monitor, and a hinge assembly allowing
`the said monitor to pivot inside the shield case.
`
`The preferred embodiment addressed is explained in details with references to figures included as below:
`
`FIG.1 is an exploded perspective view incorporating embodiment of the present invention, showing a
`square shape monitor receiving hollow (4) formed in the back side of a headrest (3) in which inclination angle
`can be adjusted toward the front using support posts (2), located on the upper parts of the driver or passenger
`seatbacks found in an aircraft or a bus.
`Inside of the receiving hollow (4), a shield case (5) is mounted to block electromagnetic waves, and hinge holes
`(5a) are drilled in lower parts of both inner walls of the shield case (5).
`In the back side of a monitor (6) mounted on the shield case (5), a hinge boss (7) is formed as one part in
`the lower part of both sides, and a hinge shaft (8) jointed in the hinge boss’ coupling holes(7a) is inserted into
`hinge holes (5a).
`A hinge shaft (8) is jointed into the coupling holes (7a) on the hinge boss with frictions so that the hinge shaft
`(8) would not pivot too freely inside coupling holes(7a), and the hinge shaft (8) can bear the monitor’s weight and
`hold still.
`The headrest (3) mounted monitor’s wire (6a) is fed through the support posts (2) and exits to the outside.
`
`Referring to FIG 2a and 2b, the operation of the preferred embodiment is explained as follows:
`FIG.2a is a cross-sectional view of a monitor (6) mounted inside the shield case (5) on a headrest (3) at normal
`position, in which the rear seat passenger watch the display monitor (6) without adjustment.
`When a front seat passenger adjusts the headrest (3) angle from the FIG. 2a position to a front-tilted position,
`the monitor is also tilted, and it is hard for the rear seat passenger to watch the monitor.
`Therefore, as shown in FIG. 2b, monitor (6) can be pulled around the hinge shaft (8) as a center, and the monitor
`(6) stiffly pivots due to the friction between the monitor’s hinge boss (7) and the hinge shaft (8). After the monitor is
`appropriately adjusted by the rear seat passenger, the monitor would stop tilting as there is a frictional force between
`the hinge shaft and the inner peripheral side of the hinge boss and pressed together. The monitor (6) will no longer
`move even with hands off.
`Thus, the rear seat passenger can adjust to the angle ideal for viewing and watch the monitor.

`EFFECTS OF THIS INVENTION
`As described above, the embodiment of this invention can save the space where monitor is installed thus the
`space can be utilized more efficiently. It also prevents obstructing other passenger’s views.
`Additionally, the invention will allow the easy adjustment of the monitor’s angle so that the monitor angle can be
`adjusted independently regardless of the front seat passenger inclines the headrest. This simple configuration of
`angle adjustment mechanism is easy to apply and provides an added benefit of reduced manufacturing cost.

`
`Claim 1:
`A shield case (5) installed in the monitor receiving hollow (4), located in the back of the headrest (3), which
`blocks the electromagnetic waves from a monitor (6);
`and
`a monitor (6) mounted headrest comprising a hinge assembly that allows a said monitor (6) to pivot within the
`shield case (5).

`A hinge assembly according to Claim 1, wherein:
`a headrest with a monitor mounted, characterizing a hinge boss (7) formed as one part on the back side of a
`monitor (6) in which a hinge shaft’s (8) each end is inserted into hinge holes (5a) in both inner walls of the shield
`case (5) and joint into coupling holes (7a) of the said hinge boss.
