`Manteno, Ill.
`
`Powercore Inc. introduced a new version of its calendaring and scheduling software with support for
`heterogeneous environments and other enhancements.
`
`Among the improvements in version 2.0 of Network Scheduler 3 are an improved graphical interface, as well as
`new support for Apple Computer Inc.'s Macintosh computers in addition to current support for DOS and Windows
`platforms.
`
`The calendaring and scheduling software's interface now includes a tab-style user interface so that a user can
`view monthly, weekly and daily schedules the way they appear in a paper-based calendar. Powercore is also
`touting the software's new drag-and-drop features for simplified modifying of schedules.
`
`"A user can take a `to-do' and drag and drop it on a certain time. . . . It is very graphical, very object-oriented. . . .
`
`We added to drop and drag to make it easier to use," said Carl Melville, vice president of marketing for
`Powercore.
`
`The product also features enhanced directory services support. And the product's database improvements
`include a new synchronized/distributed database feature so that the database automatically sends updates
`across the network in batches every five minutes.
`
`"This supports all changes in database and in directory support, which makes the product more useful in a
`wide-area network," said Melville. He explained the Network Scheduler was suited for five- to 10-node networks,
`"but now we have people who want to migrate from {IBM} Profs or legacy environments," he said.
`
`Network Scheduler 3 version 2.0 will ship in September and will cost $495 for five users and $1,995 for 25 users.
