`
`WARNING!
`Hazardous voltage can shock, burn or cause death. Failure to disconnect
`and lock out all electrical power before attempting installation and
`maintenance can lead to shock, burns or death.
`
`NOTICE!
`All electrical connections must be made in compliance with the National
`Electrical Code (NEC) ANSI/NF PA70 and local codes.
`
`PLEASE READ ENTIRE RETROFIT PROCEDURE BEFORE STARTING.
`
`Pump out as much sewage as possible using the manual run button.
`
`Disconnect and lock out all electrical power leading to the current control
`panel(s).
`
`Remove the Powersewer cover, wet well cover, ultrasonic sensor and the sensor
`grommet.
`
`Remove the J-Box cover, disconnect sensor and pump wiring. Please make
`notation of how pump is wired.
`
`Remove the J-Box by un-screwing the two strain reliefs.
`
`Place the new J-Box so the two conduit lines line up with the two holes in the J-
`Box. Mark the basin the position of the 3 holes in the J-Box and drill basin three
`new holes using a 1-1/16” hole saw.
`
`Assemble the strain reliefs to the new J-Box as shown in illustrations below.

`
`
`Align J-Box up with the two conduit lines and the three 1-1/16” holes you had just
`cut out. Install the two remaining strain reliefs through the J-Box and into the
`yellow conduit couplings. It may be helpful to move back and forth one or both
`conduit lines from the inside of the basin to help line up the strain relief’s threads.
`
`Wire the pump back up as before.
`
`
`
`INSTALLING THE FLOAT POLE ASSEMBLY IN 54”, 72” AND 84” BASINS
`
`It’s not necessary to cut loose the coiled up float cables from the float pole
`assembly. There should be enough lead length to route to the J-Box. If you do
`cut this coil free, you will need to coil it back up after installation. Not doing so
`could interfere with operation of the floats, or worse get caught in the
`grinder pump.
`
`Install the new 2” grommet where the ultrasonic sensor used to be.
`Install the lower section of the float pole assembly by going through the wet well
`then coming up through the 2” grommet (see illustration below). Screw in the
`upper float pole section to the lower section. Rest the float pole assembly on top
`of the 2” grommet. Rotate the pole as needed to align the floats in position per
`illustration below. Once in position, seat the float pole assembly into the 2”
`grommet.

`
`Route the float lead wires behind the C-Channel and up through the 3 new strain
`reliefs. NOTE, the labels attached to the float lead wires are marked by hand
`B, M, T.
`B - is the bottom float which is pump off float.
`M - is the middle float which is the pump on float.
`T - is the top float which is the alarm float.
`Feed the float wires through the correct strain relief to match the label in the J-
`Box.

`INSTALLING THE FLOAT RAIL ASSEMBLY IN THE BASIN
`
`You will need to rotate the float rail assembly approximately 45 degrees to clear
`the wet well area. After you have cleared the wet well area, rotate the float rail
`assembly back into position as shown below.

`
`WIRING THE FLOATS IN THE J-BOX
`
`If you have 6 or more sensor lead wires coming into the J-Box, connect the floats
`per wiring diagram A-L932.
`
`If you have only 4 sensor wires coming into the J-Box, connect the floats per
`wiring diagram A-L964.
`
`NOTE: Lead wire colors and AWG may not match the drawings exactly.
`
`Install the new float panel in the desired location.
`
`
`
`CHECK PUMP AND FLOAT OPERATION
`
`With the control panel grinder pump circuit breakers in the “off” position, turn on
`the house service panel breakers supplying power to the float panel.
`
`Turn on float panel circuit breaker CB2. Leave CB1 off for now.
`
`Move the Alarm toggle switch in the “ON” position, move Pump toggle switch in
`the “Auto” position.
`
`Start filling the basin with water.
`
`Watch the floats as they rise, making sure there are no obstructions.
`
`When the “Pump on” float (middle float) rises high enough the “Pump Run Light”
`will light up. Note leave CB1 turned off for now (pump not running).
`
`When the “Alarm float” rises (top float) the alarm buzzer and light will turn on.
`
`Silence the alarm buzzer by pressing the button on the right side of the panel.
`
`Turn on the CB1, the pump should start right away.
`
`Check to see that the alarm light turns off when the top float lowers. Check to see
`that the pump turns off when the middle and bottom float lowers. Also check for
`any float obstructions, fix if necessary.
`
`After pump turns off, check the pump manual run. Move toggle switch up by
`holding it in the “Hand” position for a few seconds. After check move toggle
`switch back to “Auto”.
`
`Install all the covers back on, being careful not to strip out the molded inserts.
