`huh I. The center part of something. For example, the center
`part of a fan, wheel, tape reel, or disk. 2. A central unit
`which provides connectivity between two or more devices in

`hub-and-spoke network A communications network con-
`figuration in which all nodes are connected to a central node
`or hub. Also, a network with such a layout. Also called
`star network (1).
`hue A property of color whose visual sensation corresponds
`mostly to the wavelength of the light. Hue can refer to any
`color within the visual spectrum, and is identified by words
`such as purple, green, blue, orange, yellow, and so on.
`Achromatic colors, such as black, gray, and white, do not
`exhibit hue.

`hue control In a color TV receiver, a control which varies the
`phase of the chrominance signals with respect to the burst
`signal. This changes the hue of the televised images. Also
`called phase control (2).
`Huffman coding A data compression method which is based
`on the frequency in which the contained elements appear.
`Characters, symbols, or other elements which have a lower
`probability of appearing are encoded utilizing more bits,
`while elements with a higher probability of appearing are
`encoded utilizing fe\ver bits.
`In this way, the shortest bit se-
`quence corresponds to the most frequently occurring ele-

`hum An electrical disturbance which is generally caused by
`the frequency of the AC supply, or by one of its harmonics.
`This may occur, for instance, when the output of a power
`supply is not properly filtered.

`In a TV receiver, such a disturbance
`may result in horizontal hum bars.
