`
`FLUID COSMETIC PRODUCT DISPENSER WITH MASKED DIP TUBE
`
`
`
`
`
`
`
`INVENTION DOMAIN
`
`
`
`The invention concerns the domain of fluid cosmetic product dispensers comprising a dip tube
`
`and a dispensing head typically provided with a manually activated pump so as to dispense a
`
`dose of liquid or pasty cosmetic product with each manual pressure.
`
`
`
`STATE OF THE ART
`
`
`
`In state of the art dispensers, the dispensing head is necessarily provided with a dip tube when
`
`the dispenser is used vertically with its heads located in its top part.
`
`On the other hand, the dispenser is obviously without the dip tube if used otherwise with its head
`
`located below the level of said fluid cosmetic product.
`
`
`
`THE PROBLEM AT HAND
`
`
`
`On the one hand, more and more, dispensers include a transparent flask or bottle and this is for
`
`several reasons, with esthetic reasons or those related with fashion in general, and with the
`
`fashion of transparency in particular, not being one of the least of such reasons. However, in
`
`dispensers according to the state of the art, the dip tube is substantially centered with respect to
`
`the dispenser and consequently perfectly visible when the dispenser flask is transparent, so that
`
`this element harms most often the general esthetics of the dispenser.
`
`
`
`On the other hand, there is a permanent demand for products that are at the same time novel and
`
`that differentiate themselves through particular esthetics.
`
`The invention aims at bringing a response to these problems in the case of liquid or pasty product
`
`dispensers, typically in the case of cosmetic products.

`
`
`
`DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
`
`
`
`According to the invention, the dispenser of a liquid or pasty fluid product, typically a cosmetic
`
`product, includes a flask or bottle that contains such fluid product, with said flask comprising a
`
`side wall, a bottom and an orifice on top closed off by a dispensing head joined to said flask, with
`
`said head comprising, besides an orifice for releasing said product to the outside, a means that
`
`can be manually activated, typically by pressing a push-button, to ensure, thanks to a tube dipping
`
`in said fluid product, the flow of said fluid product through said orifice, and is characterized in that
`
`said wall is made of a transparent material, and in that all or a part of said tube runs next to said
`
`wall, typically closely and tangentially to said wall, thus masking all or a part of said tube and thus
`
`increasing the visual impression of transparency of the flask.
`
`
`
`Consequently, the dispensers according to the invention resolve the problems presented and
`
`offer new possibilities to diversify the new products offered and to give to these products a highly
`
`distinctive feature with respect to known dispensers, and which renews totally the classic image
`
`of dispensers.
`
`
`
`DESCRIPTION OF THE FIGURES
`
`
`
`All figures related to the dispensers (1) according to the invention.
`
`
`
`Figures 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 are schematic views of these dispensers (1) as an axial section in a
`
`vertical plane.
`
`
`
`Figures 1a, 2a, 3a, 4a, 5a are sections (43) of flasks (3) in a horizontal plane.
`
`Figures 6a and 6b are partial sections (44) of flasks (3) in a horizontal plane.
`
`
`
`In the dispenser of figures 1 and 1a, the flask (3) comprises a side wall (4) with a cylindrical
`
`section and the tube (7) runs tangentially alongside the wall (4).
`
`
`
`In the dispenser of figures 2 and 2a, the flask (3) comprises a side wall (4) with a square section
`
`made up of right-angle faces (41), with the tube (7) running tangentially with the right angle formed
`
`by two faces (41).

`
`In the dispenser of figures 3 and 3a, the flask (3) comprises a side wall (4) with an oval section
`
`comprising an axial groove (40) in which the tube (7) is embedded.
`
`
`
`
`
`In the dispenser of figures 4 and 4a, the flask (3) comprises a side wall (4) with a round section
`
`in which a channel 42 is created.
`
`
`
`In the dispenser of figures 5 and 5a, the flask (3) comprises a side wall (4) with a truncated section
`
`and the tube (7) runs tangentially alongside the wall (4).
`
`
`
`In the dispenser of figure 6, the flask (3) comprises a shoulder (31) that connects the head (8)
`
`and the side wall (4) that is cylindrical or not.
`
`Figure 6a represents a type of dispenser (1) where the wall (4) comprises an axial groove (40) of
`
`which the edges form snap-on lips (400) for the tube (7).
`
`
`
`Figure 6b represents another type in which the wall (4) is a wall encapsulated onto a tube, so as
`
`to form an encapsulated tube (70).
`
`
`
`DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
`
`
`
`According to a first method of the invention, said tube (7) may run closely along said wall (4),
`
`typically at less than 10 mm, preferably at less than 5 mm, or even against the wall itself with said
`
`tube and said wall having the same profile so that they blend visually into each other, as has been
`
`schematized on figures 1, 2 and 5.
`
`
`
`According to a variant of this method, as illustrated on figure 2, said wall (4) may comprise two
`
`side faces (41) forming a straight or sharp angle among them, and in which all or a part of said
`
`tube (7) is located tangentially in said sharp angle.
`
`
`
`According to another method of the invention, said tube (7) may be embedded in said wall (4).
`
`Then, said wall (4) may comprise an axial groove (40) is which is embedded all or a part of said
`
`tube (7), possibly by clipping or snapping on. This method is illustrated on figures 3 and 6a.
`
`
`
`Figure 3 displays the case where the tube is simply located in the axial groove (40) while figure
`
`6a displays the case where the axial groove comprises snap-on lips (400) so that the tube that

`
`may be a flexible tube, may match the shape of the wall (4) without running the risk of separating
`
`
`
`from this wall.
`
`
`
`According to another method of the invention, said wall (4) of the dispenser (1) may comprise in
`
`its thickness a channel (42) that forms said tube, as illustrated on figures 4 and 4a. Such a wall
`
`with channel can be obtained by molding the wall with a needle.
`
`
`
`Whatever the method of the invention may be, said head (8) may comprise a pump P (81) that
`
`may be activated by manual pressure, so as to deliver a dose of said fluid product with each
`
`manual pressure, or with a valve V (82) when the inside of said flask (3) is under pressure through
`
`a propellant, so as to deliver said product for as long as manual pressure is exerted on said head,
`
`typically on its push-button (83). Since the invention is not limited to any particular means, even
`
`though in practice a pump P is used most often, indications “P” and “V” have been indicated with
`
`respect to head (8), for all the figures.
`
`
`
`Preferably, the connection between said pump (81) or said valve (82) and said tube (7) may be
`
`off-centered with respect to a vertical symmetrical axis (30) of said flask (3) or of its orifice on top,
`
`as illustrated on the figures.
`
`
`
`For that, it is beneficial that said pump (81) or said valve (82) is positioned perpendicularly to the
`
`tube (7) or to said vertical symmetrical axis (30) so that said connection may be made as closely
`
`as possible to the periphery of said top orifice of said wall (4). In this case, the pump or valve are
`
`activated by displacing the pusher (83) according to a direction (84) that is substantially that (20)
`
`of the fluid product jet, as illustration on all figures, except for figure 6. As is illustrated on figure
`
`6, it is not excluded to have a pusher (83) according to a direction (84) that is perpendicular to the
`
`direction (20).
`
`
`
`According to the invention, said flask (3) may comprise an added bottom (6) as shown on figures
`
`2, 4, and 6, as in the case when manufacturing of said dispenser (1) may require it.
`
`
`
`Beneficially, said bottom (5, 6) may comprise a small basin or hollow part (50, 60) capable of
`
`collecting the last drops of said fluid product (2), with said tube (7, 70) or channel (42) comprising
`
`a bottom end running into said basin (50, 60) so as to be able to dispense practically all of the
`
`fluid product (2).

`
`
`
`
`
`
`
`
`
`
`
`
`
`
`
`
`
`
`2820726
`
`All dispensers (1) shown on the figures include a small basin (50, 60).
`
`
`
`In the dispensers (1) according to the invention, at least 50% of the height of said tube (7, 70) or
`
`channel (42) is hidden or masked by said wall (4) and preferably at least 80%, or even all of it.
`
`
`
`
`
`By “hidden” or “masked” is understood not the fact of making the tube invisible to the eye but the
`
`fact of making it blend visually with the wall so that at least the central part of the flask is exempt
`
`from any object other than the fluid content of the dispenser, and so that nothing stands in the
`
`way of the esthetics of the dispenser, knowing that this is one of the essential points in the domain
`
`of cosmetic products and so that the sight of the user cannot be captured and drawn away by a
`
`functional accessory that does not have any special esthetic feature.
`
`
`
`According to the invention, said dispenser (1) may be shaped by force-fitting, screwing or
`
`snapping on of said head (8) possibly comprising said tube (7) having the profile of said wall (4),
`
`on said flask (3).
`
`
`
`The wall (4) of the flask (3) may be a molded wall, such as made of a thermoplastic substance.
`
`This molded wall may comprise as was already indicated, an axial groove (40) capable of masking
`
`said tube (7) or a channel (42) forming said tube itself. Said wall (4) may also be molded onto
`
`said head (8), possibly provided with said tube, so as to form in this case an encapsulated tube
`
`(70) which represents another way of assembly of the head (8) onto the flask (3).
`
`According to another variant, said molded wall (4) may comprise said channel (42) forming said
`
`tube. In this case, for feasibility purposes, it is preferable that said bottom is an added bottom (6)
`
`typically comprising said small basin (60).
`
`
`
`Said wall (4) of said flask (3) may be made of glass or of any other transparent material other than
`
`thermoplastic substances, and said bottom (5) may be an added bottom (6) or not. When the
`
`bottom is an added bottom (6), it may consist of the same substance as the wall (4) or possibly
`
`be made of a different material, such as for esthetic reasons.
`
`
`
`It may be beneficial that said wall (4) and said tube (7) are made of the same material or materials
`
`that have substantially the same refraction index.

`
`According to another possibility of the invention, and as illustrated in figures 6a and 6b, the
`
`dispenser (1) may include an outside covering (9) over the part of the wall (4) of the flask alongside
`
`of which said tube (7, 70) or said channel (42) is running so as to make said tube or channel
`
`totally invisible while providing total transparency to the rest of the flask.
`
`
`
`
`
`EXAMPLES OF EMBODIMENT
`
`Figures 1 to 6b represent non-limiting examples of embodiment of dispensers according to the
`
`invention.
`
`
`
`As such, eau de toilette dispensers have been manufactured comprising a head (8) with a pump
`
`P, with the orifice (80) forming a spray nozzle, with a tube (7) or tube portion fitted onto said pump.
`
`Flasks (3) have been manufactured in plastic by molding.
`
`
`
`Dispenser according to figure 1: the flask (3) has been manufactured separately, and the head
`
`(8) has been force-fitted onto this flask and a tube (7) has been fitted onto said head.
`
`
`
`Dispenser according to figure 2: the wall (4) and the added bottom (6) of the flask have been
`
`manufactured separately; then, the head (8) with the tube (7) have been force-fitted, with the tube
`
`being placed in an inside angle of the wall (4).
`
`
`
`Dispenser according to figure 3: the flask (3) has been manufactured separately; its left wall is
`
`straight and includes an axial groove (40); then, the head (8) with the tube (7) has been force-
`
`fitted while orienting it so that the tube (7) cooperates with the groove (40).
`
`
`
`Dispenser according to figure 4: the wall (4) has been molded with a needle in the mold to form
`
`the channel (42) as well as the added bottom (6); then, the head has been force-fitted with a
`
`portion of the tube suitable to be connected tightly onto said channel (42).
`
`
`
`Dispenser according to figure 5: similar manufacture as for the dispenser according to figure 1,
`
`but which a tube (7) elbow-shaped at its top end.
`
`
`
`Dispenser according to figures 6 and 6a: one has molded the wall (4) provided with a groove (40)
`
`with snap-on lips (400); then, the tube (7) has been snapped onto the groove (40) and, the head
`
`(8) has been force-fitted with the end of the tube (7) connected tightly to pump P.

`
`BENEFITS OF THE INVENTION
`
`
`
`The invention reveals a new family of dispensers, aimed mainly but not exclusively to the

`
`
`
`Economically but at least without significant excess cost, it allows to renew the image of
