`Understanding RED BOOK Online Search Results
`
`The search results screen displays detailed information about your search query. An example search with multiple results is shown
`below.
`
`Results are displayed in rows, with links to additional information. Data can be re-sorted by most of the column headings.
`
` Search Results Header
`
`At the top of the search results is the search header information. Moving from left to right, the first item displayed is the page
`title (RED BOOK Online® Search Results). Adjacent to the title is the Modify Search button.
`
`Click the Modify Search button to return to the RED BOOK Online search tool and modify your search or perform a new
`search either by typing in a new search term or by changing your filter options.
`Search results can be exported to a Microsoft® Excel® (.xls) file, or a Comma Separated Values (.csv) file. Select the file type
`that you want to save the results as from the drop-down menu. A dialog box appears that provides the ability to select the
`location to which you want to save the file.

`. Clicking the Print icon launches the Windows® Print dialog window
`On the right side of the screen is the Print icon 
`and allows you to print your RED BOOK Online search results.
`Displayed in the blue bar directly beneath the RED BOOK Online® Search Results title is identification information about the
`search performed. In the example shown above, the identification information displays that a search was performed by Product
`Name for the product Ceftriaxone.

`Also displayed are any filters that were applied to this search. In the example shown above, the “Active” filter was applied.

`Below the search identification information is the number of results returned for this particular search. In the Ceftriaxone
`example shown above, 132 results were found and results 1-50 are displayed.

`On the right side of the screen, the number of pages within the search result are displayed. For this example, page 1 of 3 is
`being displayed. When the search results contain multiple pages, you can use the Previous and Next links to page through the
`search results, or you can enter a page number in the Page box and click GO to move directly to that page of the results.

`All columns with headings in blue can be sorted in ascending or descending order. Click on the column heading to sort on the
`column. The display refreshes based on the sort selection with a secondary sort on product name. Click again to reverse the
`sort order

`The various column headings/items and their function are described in the table below.

`The Details button is related to the checkboxes that correspond to each line item
`in the search results. Clicking the checkbox for a single or for multiple products
`and then clicking the Details button launches the Product Details pop-up screen.
`The Product Details pop-up screen provides detailed information for the
`product(s) selected.
`The Price Chg (price change) column indicates if the selected product has had a
`price change that is effective within the last 30 days of the date the search was
`performed. If a price change has occurred within this time window, a dollar sign
`) will display in this column. Hovering the cursor over the icon will display

`The New Pkg column indicates if the product on which you searched is a new
`entry in the RED BOOK Online database that became effective within the
`previous 30 days of the date the search was performed.

`The Product Name column displays the name of all the individual products
`retrieved by your search. You can click the column header to sort the search
`results by this column.
`The Active Ingredient column displays the active ingredient(s) for the product
`for which you searched. You can click the name of the active ingredient to view
`other products that contain the same active ingredient, strength, form, and route.
`Hovering the mouse over the name of the active ingredient displays the
`information you can view by clicking the link.

`If a product contains more than one active ingredient and you click the name of
`the active ingredients link, RED BOOK Online will search for other products
`containing all of the active ingredients specified. If you want to search for other
`products that contain just one of the active ingredients listed, return to the search
`page and perform an active ingredient search on that one item.
`The Manufacturer/Distributor column displays the manufacturer/distributor of an
`individual product in your search results. A single product name can be
`associated with multiple manufacturers/distributors.
`The Rpkg column indicates whether or not the product is repackaged by the
`company listed as the manufacturer/distributor. A “Y” indicates that the listed
`manufacturer/distributor is a repackager of the product. An “N” indicates that the
`listed manufacturer/distributor is not a repackager.
`The Generic column indicates whether or not the particular line item is a generic
`product. A “Y” indicates that the product is a generic version. An “N” indicates
`that the product is not a generic product.
`If a product has a corresponding Orange Book Code, that code will appear in the
`Orange Book Code column. Not all products will have an associated Orange
`Book Code. When there is no associated Orange Book Code, two dashes (--) will
`appear in the column.
`The Code Type column identifies the registry listed for the identifier, either NDC;
`HRI; or UPC. This code type is related to the value that appears in the Identifier
`column.
`The Identifier column displays the NDC, HRI, or UPC code that is associated
`with the item for which you searched.
`The Form column displays the dosage form (tablet, solution, syrup, etc.) of a
`product.
`The Strength column displays the active ingredient strength for the product for
`which you searched.

`The Strength column is limited to 24 characters. Entries in this field that exceed
`24 characters are truncated. A longer description can be viewed on the Product
`Details screen.
`The Route column displays the route of administration for the product.
`The Pkg (package) column displays the quantity of individual items in the
`package. This quantity is expressed in National Council for Prescription Drug
`Programs (NCPDP) units (each, grams, milliliters).
`The Unit Dose column indicates if the product retrieved in your search is
`available in unit dose packaging. A “Y” indicates that the product is available in
`unit dose packaging. An “N” indicates that the product is not available in unit
`dose packaging.
`The WAC Pkg Price column displays the Wholesale Acquisition Cost of the
`package.
`The AWP Pkg Price column displays the Average Wholesale Price per package.
`The AWP Unit Price column displays the Average Wholesale Price per unit. For
`information on how unit prices are calculated, see the corresponding help topic.
