`
`Abstract
`
`This study investigates the influence of blending high melt strength PP with a PP block
`
`copolymer. The interrelations of blend ratio on the extensional rheology, on foamability, and
`
`on the mechanical properties of the finished PP foams are discussed. The resulting foam
`
`morphologies of blends consisting of linear and branched PP materials produced at various
`
`processing temperatures were studied using a single-screw tandem foam extrusion system
`
`and their volume expansion behaviours were compared. A correlation between extensional
`
`rheology and lower limit of foam density of blends was found. The influence of foam density
`
`and blend ratio on mechanical properties of the foams are discussed with respect to the use
`
`of a model and representative samples. 5 refs.
