`

`
`Supplemental Declaration of Aviel D. Rubin
`IPR2016-00159
`
`
`I, Aviel Rubin, declare as follows:
`
`1.
`
`I have personal knowledge of the facts stated in this declaration, and
`
`could and would testify to these facts under oath if called upon to do so.
`
`2.
`
`I have been retained by counsel for Palo Alto Networks, Inc.
`
`(Petitioner) in this case as an expert in the relevant art. I am being compensated for
`
`my work at the rate of $688 per hour. No part of my compensation is contingent
`
`upon the outcome of this petition.
`
`3.
`
`Petitioner’s Exhibit 1002 is a true and correct copy of a declaration I
`
`signed on or about November 6, 2015.
`
`4.
`
`As stated in my November 6, 2015 declaration, I am one of the co-
`
`authors of the Martin paper. I attended the 1997 Symposium on Network and
`
`Distributed System Security (NDSS) held in San Diego, California, on February
`
`10-11, 1997, at which the Martin paper was presented. There were about 400
`
`attendees at the NDSS conference, and anyone who considered themselves a
`
`serious researcher in security submitted their work to that conference. Those who
`
`attended the NDSS conference received a copy, at the conference, of the printed
`
`conference proceedings, which included the Martin paper.
`
`5.
`
`As also stated in my November 6, 2015 declaration, I still have my
`
`personal copy of the proceedings that I received at the 1997 NDSS conference,
`
`including the Martin paper. My copy of Martin matches the version of Martin

`included as Petitioner’s Exhibit 1006. To my knowledge, we as authors only ever
`
`produced one version of the Martin paper, which was the paper distributed at the
`
`1997 NDSS conference.
`
`6.
`
`I hereby declare that all statements made herein of my own
`
`knowledge are true and that all statements made on information and belief are
`
`believed to be true, and further that these statements were made with the
`
`knowledge that willful false statements and the like are punishable by fine or
`
`imprisonment, or both, under 18 U.S.C. § 1001.
`
`
`
`
`Dated: November 15, 2016
`
`Respectfully submitted,
