`
`M86 Security has announced the completed acquisition of Finjan.
`
`The acquisition sees M86 add Finjan's line of enterprise-class secure web gateway and Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) based solutions to its portfolio of email and web security solutions.
`
`Under the terms of the agreement, M86 acquires Finjan's global operations, products and technology, which merge into M86 Security effective immediately. The company will maintain a
`development centre and operations in Netanya, Israel to sit alongside M86's existing bases in New Zealand and Orange County, California.
`
`M86 will also merge Finjan's security labs, Malicious Code Research Centre, into M86 Security Labs, forming a comprehensive email and web threat research organisation. As part of the
`agreement, M86 Security acquires a licence to Finjan's patents.
`
`Bruce Green, president, international for M86 Security, described the deal as ‘very exciting' and confirmed that the company now has around 300 staff after inheriting around 100 staff
`from Finjan.
`
`Green said: “We had a fledgling security gateway solution and this has allowed us to strengthen ourselves into this space. We were building a web service and looking at a strategy and
`filling the gaps, and asked ourselves if we could build a gateway but admitted that it looks too big.
`
`“This has been built into our product ranges from day one so we can adapt the product, and with this we will have the de facto solution. We will build on the reporting as that is one of its
`weaknesses, we will build our engines into the product and look to improve the reporting as that is what has not really been done.”
`
`Commenting on the future of the Finjan brand, Green claimed that it will be incorporated and the company will move forward as M86 Security. He said it is a possibility that ‘powered by
`Finjan' may be used as there is a strong brand, but M86 was looking for ways to leverage the brand.
`
`Gadi Maier, president and CEO of Finjan, said: “We are very excited to see Finjan become part of M86 Security. Finjan is well known for its advanced malware detection technology and
`leading secure web gateway and hybrid SaaS solutions.
`
`“Integrating it into M86's broader web and messaging product lines and utilising its worldwide distribution is a win-win for M86 Security and Finjan.”
