`message of the day \mes';;)j ;;)V dhd cia'\ n. A
`daily bulletin for users of a network, multiuser

`destination. On a typical message-switching net(cid:173)
`work, a central computer receives messages,
`stores them (usually briefly), determines their des(cid:173)
`tination addresses, and then delivers them. Mes(cid:173)
`sage switching enables a network bod1 to regulate
`traffic and to use communications lines efficiently.
`Compare circuit switching, packet switching.
