`Timothy John DRABIK
`DRABIK, Timothy John 56, died October 12, 2015. Born in Gary, Indiana, to Elizabeth and John Drabik,
`he moved with his family to Merrillville, Indiana, as a child. Tim's love of science and innovation inspired
`him to pursue a career in applied physics. He received BS degrees in electrical engineering and
`mathematics from the RoseHulman Institute of Technology. Georgia Institute of Technology awarded
`him a MS degree in optics and signal processing and a PhD in electrical engineering. Tim began his
`career at Bell Labs. He taught electrical engineering at Georgia Tech for more than 10 years, receiving
`tenure and serving as research director at Georgia Tech Lorraine in France. After a year as a visiting
`associate professor at Stanford University, Tim choose to turn to the private sector and provided consulting and litigation
`support services. Over the course of his career, Tim received three patents and authored more than two dozen
`publications in archival journals. He also made seminal contributions in several areas, including liquid crystal
`microdisplay technology and optical interconnection for highperformance computing. In his personal time, Tim enjoyed
`spending time with his wife and their poodle, working on cars, and cycling, with cycling over the Alps being one of his
`cherished memories. He moved to Sonoma County with his loving wife in 2006. Tim's friends and family will remember
`and miss Tim for his generosity, quick wit, and infectious laugh. He is survived by his wife, Lauren Gudath of Petaluma,
`CA, and brother, Thomas Drabik of St. Petersburg, Florida. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held on
`November 1st at 2:00 p.m. in Petaluma. Call 4154121554 for location information. Tim was a strong supporter of food
