`Ying-Moh:
`
`The drive for each pi cell is basically a square wave at 36Hz, driving between +12, +-1.75, -12 and -~l .75, where the cycle
`goes off, quarter wave. offi quarter wave respectively,
`In addition to this wavefonn, there is superimposed an overdrive
`pulse at the beginning of the 12 to 1.75 transition (plus and minus} designed to rapidly move charge out of the pi cell
`capacitance to bring the on state to equiiibrium more quickly. This pulse overshoots by about 3 volts (to ~-1.5 volts in the
`first on state) and lasts 400 microseconds.
`
`There is no carrier frequency as is often encountered with LC devices.
`
`Is this the information you were looking for?

`Could you tell us the drive voltage and frequency of the square wave for driving the Z-screens we received?
`Thank you.

`Jerry and Lenny:
`
`I contacted Nitto and inquired about their half-wave films (HWF). They are checking if they have
`samples available and will get back to me on Monday. Their films seem to be achromatic and has
`decent angular properties up to about +i’- 10 deg. However, Nitto will no longer sell such HWF by
`itself, but will be laminated with a polarizer. They will not have endcaps either. So, this is not a real
`solution, but only allowing us to do some lab experiments while we wait for Colorlink's parts. We
`still need to push CL.

`Our rough analysis says it will reduce total illumination.
`
`I have put together achromatic retarders by hand on a bench after
`having read the key papers.
`I hope it doesn't come to that.

`
`Hi there,
`
`We are having trouble getting ColorLink's attention but we are still
`working on it.
`
`Could we get started with a chromatic half wave? And then replace it
`with the proper pan when available?
