`
`I suggest taking the Z screen out of the case completely and using only the glass elements.. Note it has
`only one polarizer - on the input side. this is a high quality dyestuff polarizer with transmission of about
`42%. The Z screen also has A/R coated glass end caps on it.
`
`If you can tell us what you want, we can probably have a sample assembled using the same pi cells, and
`polarizer and A/R coatings of choice.
`
`
`We can supply you a unit(s) that are in the housing.

`
`Correct. It will make the assembly larger for the prototype but enable us to test the prototype quicker.

`
`
`OK. Thanks, Jerry. So it looks like I’ll be gutting the existing ZScreen. The current assembly includes a
`squirrel cage fan and two polarizer plates. Unless told otherwise, I will remove one of the polarizers and
`the fan to make the package smaller and easier to integrate. The fan should not be an issue since each
`ZScreen is seeing half the light normally would, and the remaining polarizer is only absorbing enough
`light to clean up anything the beam splitter missed.

`Guys:
`
`It looks like we will have to jury-rig the existing ZScreens recognizing that we will have to do another
`design turn for production.

`Jerry:
`
`The pi cells in the Z screen require tooling - the major implication is timing (an optical part - 12 - 16 weeks). Can
`you make the larger part work?
`
`We recognize that this is a proof of concept.
`
`Another question is what kind of polarizer you want on the ZS. We have much more flexibility on the assembly of
`the pi cells in terms of AR treatment and polarizer and if it isn't exotic can probably get reasonable turn around. If
`our standard assembly works all the better.

`
`Jerry et al,
`
`The only ZS fully engineered for the theater -- to give the best image -- is the one in production -- 9 by 5.
`
`We can make other sizes, but is that worth doing for the proto since we'd have to endure some NRE and possible
`delay and the form-factor may be different for production.
`
`Is it not possible to use the present device even if it is larger than you'd like as a means to get started?
`
`Also -- would we require different sizes for different lenses in production?

`
`Jerry,
`
`
`
`
`
`Can you ask Lenny what stock Z-Screen sizes are readily available. What we measured and have models for is about
`9"x5" clear aperture, but I'd like something closer to 7"x5". That way it's not much more than the 160x100mm clear
`aperture that is called for by Ying-Moh's optical analysis. Thanks.
