UNITED STATES PATENT AND TRADEMARK OFFICE
`
`BEFORE THE PATENT TRIAL AND APPEAL BOARD
`
`
`
`PETROLEUM GEO-SERVICES INC.
`Petitioner
`
`v.
`
`WESTERNGECO, LLC
`Patent Owner
`
`
`Case IPR2014-014771
`
`U.S. Patent No. 7,080,607
`
`PETROLEUM GEO-SERVICES INC.’S REQUEST FOR ORAL
`ARGUMENT
`
`
`1 Case IPR2014-00688 is a related proceeding.
`
`
`
`

`
`
`
`
`
`Pursuant to the Scheduling Order (Paper 19), Stipulation (Paper 30) and 37
`
`C.F.R. § 42.70(a), Petitioner Petroleum Geo-Services Inc. (“PGS”) respectfully
`
`requests that the Board hear oral argument in IPRs 2014-01475, -1477, and -1478
`
`simultaneously on November 10, 2015 at 9:00 am. See November 2015 PTAB
`
`Public Hearing Schedule.2
`
`The issues in these proceedings are substantially related to those addressed
`
`earlier this year at the hearing in the related proceedings numbered IPR2014-
`
`00687, -00688 and -00689. These proceedings raise a discrete and narrow set of
`
`additional issues. As a result, PGS believes that one hour of oral argument per side
`
`would be sufficient to address any new subject matter in these proceedings.
`
`However, PGS recognizes that one of the panel members in this case did not have
`
`an opportunity to participate in the prior related proceedings and trial, and as a
`
`result, the Board may prefer to hold a more lengthy argument.
`
`
`
`Pursuant to 37 C.F.R. § 42.70(a), PGS requests oral argument on all of the
`
`instituted grounds of unpatentability of Claims 16-23 of U.S. Patent No. 7,080,607.
`
`
`2
`
`The Board initially proposed an oral argument date of November 12, 2015
`
`for this proceeding. See Paper 19 at 6. However, the Board’s public calendar
`
`identifies November 10, 2015 as the date for this argument. PGS is prepared to
`
`proceed on either date.
`
`
`
`
`
`

`
`
`
`PGS respectfully requests that the Board provide audio/visual equipment to
`
`display demonstrative exhibits and evidence of record, including the use of a
`
`projector and screen for displaying documents.
`
`
`
`
`
`Respectfully submitted,
`
