`Lotus Notes
`
`Improve workgroup communications
`with shared information
`Lotus Notes allows workgroups to share
`timely document databases across depart(cid:173)
`ments or across the world.
`With Notes, you can track projects,
`distribute reports or discuss ideas with
`other group members, keeping everyone in
`the loop, no matter where they're located.
`
`Three critical functions, one easy
`program
`Lotus Notes boosts workgroup effective(cid:173)
`ness by allowing team members connected
`on a PC network to assemble, organize and
`distribute various types of information, all
`from within a single, easy-to-use program.
`Assemble files, text, numbers and
`graphics from within Notes or from other
`word processing, spreadsheet or graphics
`products.
`Organize information by selecting, sorting
`and categorizing documents according to cri(cid:173)
`teria defined by the workgroup.
`Distribute documents, including Notes
`integrated electronic mail, transparently and
`securely across workgroup locations with
`mixed PC networks and operating systems.
`
`Your next step is always clear
`Lotus Notes has a graphical user interface
`and offers WYSIWYG (what-you-see-is-what(cid:173)
`you-get) text editing, so preparing and pre(cid:173)
`senting your information, on-screen or in
`print, is easy.
`Plus, Notes comes packaged with cus(cid:173)
`tomizable templates and example files to
`help you get started with your workgroup
`applications.

`The first thing you'U see in Notes is your Workspace.
`Using pull-down menus, a few clicks of the PC mouse or
`equivalent keystrokes, you can go anywhere from
`here. The six desktop folliers help organize your

`
`Lotus Notes and Microsoft Windows
`
`Lotus Notes operates in a graphics environment called Microsoft® Windows, created by
`Microsoft Corporation. An extension of the MS-DOS operating system, Microsoft
`Windows gives standard look and feel to Notes and all other Windows applications.
`
`The Notes package contains all the software necessary to run Notes. You can also run
`Notes under Microsoft Windows version 2.10 or higher.
`
`With Microsoft Windows, you can take advantage of these additional features of the
`Windows environment:
`
`• Running multiple applications: You can run several applications under Windows at
`one time and easily switch between them, creating an integrated work environment.
`• Data exchange between applications: You can transfer data between Notes and other
`standard DOS applications as well as other Windows applications.
`• Windows control of the DOS environment: From the Windows environment you
`can easily access all Windows and non-Windows applications, files, directories, and
`disks, and control all DOS-related tasks such as directory or file management and
`formatting disks.
`
`To run Notes under Microsoft Windows, you need to license and install Microsoft
`Windows version 2.10 or higher.
