`Lotus Notes and Microsoft Windows
`
`Lotus Notes operates in a graphics environment called Microsoft® Windows, created by
`Microsoft Corporation. An extension of the MS-DOS operating system, Microsoft
`Windows gives standard look and feel to Notes and all other Windows applications.
`The Notes package contains all the software necessary to run Notes. You can also run
`Notes under Microsoft Windows version 2.10 or higher.
`
`With Microsoft Windows, you can take advantage of these additional features of the
`Windows environment:
`
`0 Running multiple applications: You can run several applications under Windows at
`one time and easily switch between them, creating an integrated work environment.
`0 Data exchange between applications: You can transfer data between Notes and other
`standard DOS applications as well as other Windows applications.
`O Windows control of the DOS environment: From the Windows environment you
`can easily access all Windows and non—Windows applications, files, directories, and
`disks, and control all DOS—related tasks such as directory or file management and
`formatting disks.
`To run Notes under Microsoft Windows, you need to license and install Microsoft
`Windows version 2.10 or higher.

`Other Lotus Notes Books
`
`Other books in the Lotus Notes document set are the following:
`
`Installing Workstation Software
`Tells how to configure your workstation (both DOS and OS/2®), and
`how to install Lotus Notes. Contains detailed instructions on the
`
`versions of Microsoft Windows and 05/2 Presentation Manager under
`which Lotus Notes runs, and how to configure your computer for
`them.
`
`Tuning In
`Gives the new user some hands-on experience with Notes by guiding
`the user through some typical Notes tasks in a practice database.
`
`Learning Lotus Notes
`Working with a sample database, provides step—by-step instructions
`for end users, and introduces windows and Notes terminology.
`
`Database Design
`Explains Lotus Notes databases for application analysts and database
`designers. Provides details on creating and implementing a database,
`defining access privileges, constructing formulas, and using
`@functions.
`
`Notes @Work
`Consists of individual books that illustrate how to design, implement,
`and maintain a specific type of Notes database. Offers ideas for the
`kinds of applications you can build with Notes, and the kinds of
`workgroups that are most likely to use each application. Each book
`contains a detailed description of a Notes template that you can use
`to start designing the application, as well as examples of customizing
`the templates for specific applications and workgroups.
`
`Administrator’s Guide
`
`Covers Lotus Notes server configuration and installation. Explains
