`NetProtector locks down your PC modem. ·

`The Internet
`There are plenty of software
`
`solutions for controlling
`Internet access. But if you're a
`lock-and-key person, it's time for
`the NetProtector modem lock.
`With a turn of a key, Ez Solve's
`NetProi:ector locks your internal
`modem and denies all Internet
`access to anyone using your PC.
`lt does not, however, disable any
`nonmodem-related functions.
`NetProtector connects directly
`to your internal modem and
`telephone jack and has a special
`protective metal collar that pre·
`· vents anyone from unplugging it.
`To install the metal collar, you
`open your PC's case, remove
`your modem card, insert the
`collar through the now-empty
`slot in the back of the computer,
`plug the phone line into the
`modem, put the modem back in
`its slot, and replace your PC's
`cover. Once you install
`NetProtector, users can remove
`it only by going to the consider(cid:173)
`able trouble of opening the PC's
`case and removing the modem.
`The palm-sized NetProtector
`sells for $14.95 and is easy to use.
`NetProtector works with any
`IBM PC·compatible computer
`with a standard internal modem.

`Tracker Pro runs on Windows 95,

`
`G enius is sometimes defined as
`
`the ability to make connec(cid:173)
`tions between seemingly unrelated
`pieces of information. By that defi(cid:173)
`nition, Enjish Tracker Pro has en(cid:173)
`tered the competition to be a PC
`Einstein. This product's forte is
`showing you at a glance how pieces
`of data scattered about your hard
`drive interrelate. Thafs an impor·
`tant service in our information-rich
`environment where the challenge is
`· not getting data, but getting a
`grasp on how to use it.
`During setup, Tracker Pro surveys
`your hard drive and categorizes info
`by "trackers," which are keywords
`designated however you choose.
`You can set up trackers for specific
`terms such as "Mclaren Budget" for
`organizing files on a customer pro(cid:173)
`ject or broad terms such as "spam"
`for categorizing data on a subject
`you're researching. The initial scan
`can take up to an hour, depending
`on how much info your PC holds.
`When Tracker Pro fin-
`ishes its scan, it displays
`a window showing
`related items, with
`keywords highlighted.
`Note that Tracker Pro
`simply provides a dif-
`ferent way to view and
`reach the original files;
`the files' contents and
`locations remain unal(cid:173)
`tered.
`The first glance at
`the list of related files is
`quite enlightening.
`Perhaps for the first
`time, you'll think of
`your data by topic
`rather than application.
